Restore Database
Hello,
My Dell Windows 10 laptop crashed so I have to reinstall Windows 10. I have a backup from April 20. I reinstall MediaMonkey and then put my backup in the appropriate folder. But MediaMonkey didn't show any of my songs or playlist. I tried to restore the database from my backup but it said failed.
Please advise what should I do? Please explain to me as simple as possible as I have been having problems with MM before. I do have MM5 installed.
Any suggestions/comments are much appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: Restore Database
You could try copying the database file (mm5.db) from the backup to the database location.

Re: Restore Database
Thank you for the reply.
The database MM5.DB is already in the folder. So what should I do next?
I tried to attach a jpg but it just showed in the message and didn't ask me to upload it.
The database is located in the folder: C: Username/AppData/Roaming/MediaMonkey5 which consists of the following items.
ArtistImages Folder
Plugins Folder
Scripts Folder
Thumbs
VideoThumbnails
MediaMonkey.ini
mediamonkey.m3u8
MM_20220416063550.DB
MM5.DB
persistent.json
persistent.json.bck
precompiledLess_Material Design_Desktop.css
Thank you.

Re: Restore Database
How large is the mm5.db. As you don't see files, presumably it's small and can be replaced with the backup copy.

It's about 20mb. That's from the backup file.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Re: Restore Database
If the correct backup has been placed, you just start MediaMonkey.
If files fail to play and have no drive letter, you need to re-assign drive.

Re: Restore Database
That seems pretty complicated! I only have one drive which is C, and when I tried to restore the database from the backup, it said failed even though I chose the correct backup file.
Thank you m

Re: Restore Database
So, what happened when you manually copied the backup mm5.db?

Re: Restore Database
I don't understand your question, why do I need to copy the file? If so, where do I put it?
When I tried to restore the database, I chose the backup file and then it gave me the error saying Failed.

Re: Restore Database
As restore backup failed, we recommended trying manually above.

Re: Restore Database
OK, now I got my playlists back but encountered another problem. When I tried to play any songs, they all gave me the error :
Playback failed. Then pointed to my iTunes Media file saying the file is inaccessible!
What to do now?
Thank you.

Do the files have a drive letter?

Re: Restore Database
It said (OS) without number. My drive should be C.
It's : (OS) backward / then username......

Re: Restore Database
Then you need to do the previously suggested re-assign drive.

Re: Restore Database
Hello,
Do you mean " re-assign drive"?
I read the link several times but I have difficult to understand how to do it. In simple English, can you guide me through?
Thank you.
