Changes made to view settings not remembered on restart
Hello
Recently each time I have started MM (3.2.0.1294) the program opens with the same file highlighted, playlist tree open, and any changes made to the view in the previous session appear not to have been saved. It also seems I cannot change the skin and have MM remember this on start up the next time. This never used to be the case.
I can however, add files to the library, or modify track properties, and these changes are remembered.
Its not, therefore, a huge problem, just starting to irritate being faced with the same track's artwork each time I start MM.
I'd be very grateful for any advice on how to sort this..
MThomas

Re: Changes made to view settings not remembered on restart
It is probably a problem where MediaMonkey isn't closing properly, usually caused by 3rd party scripts or plugins. Check the windows task manager after you close MM to see if any mediamonkey.exe processes are running.

Re: Changes made to view settings not remembered on restart
Thanks no-hitter but I checked and there are no MM processes running after closing it down when I look in task manager. What file is modified when changes are made like those described, and where might I find it?
thanks
MThomas

Generally the changes would be saved to the registry and to the MediaMonkey.ini filebroken_bicycles wrote:Thanks no-hitter but I checked and there are no MM processes running after closing it down when I look in task manager. Maybe try to start MM as administrator.

Re: Changes made to view settings not remembered on restart
Thanks - Ive sorted it! - the local Apps data folder had been set to read only for some reason. No idea how or why, but I unchecked the read only on folder properties and now changes are updated on restart.
Re: Changes made to view settings not remembered on restart
Happens to same to me; MM doesn't "remember" volume level, shuffle on/off and nothing appears in now playing when I turn on MM. Everytime I turn it on I have to set manually volume, shuffle and views settings!
MM folder in App Data doesn't seem to be set as Read-only.
Help, please,it's such a boring problem!

Did you check if there are any MediaMonkey processes running in the Task Manager after you shutdown MediaMonkey?

Yes, I've checked after restarting Xp (SP3) and then MM. After closing MM, a MM process runs in RAM until I kill it.

That's your problem then. Did you install any addons/scripts as they can cause this problem?

Re: Changes made to view settings not remembered on restart
That could be Minilyrics plugin, but I've already ununinstalled it, and I don't remember if this problem with MM started with Minilyrics or before.
What do you suggest? should I uninstall MM too and then reinstall it?
Anyway, thanks for your answers.

Re: Changes made to view settings not remembered on restart
You could rename the Program Files/MediaMonkey/Scripts folder and then start MediaMonkey. This would disable most addons. Make some changes, exit MediaMonkey and see if it does disappear out of the Task Manager.

Re: Changes made to view settings not remembered on restart
I tried to uninstall and then reinstall MM, but nothing.
It doesn't remember the settings.
Tried also to rename the scripts folder in programfiles/mediamonkey, but got the same problem. When I turn off MM a process still runs in memory.

You can either try a clean install: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... ticleid=54 or create a debug log: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=69

Re: Changes made to view settings not remembered on restart
Tried a clean install.
After turning off MM nothing remains in RAM, no running processes, but the program still doesn't remember the settings.
If I'll have the time I'll try to create the debug log.
Bye
