MMW not working with UPnP / DLNA

Post by richiefinger »

I've not used my desktop setup with UPnP / DLNA before.
I've just come home with a new laptop that has MMW 4.1.5.1719 installed
I turned on my smart tv and it automatically found the MMW Library and MMW server. I've tested it all and it works fine.

I've gone to setup my desktop version of MMW but it doesn't show up on the smart TV.

I've downloaded the newest version of MMW to the desktop 4.1.5.1719
I've gone to Options/Library/Media Sharing
The MM Libray and a the MM server show up.
I've Enabled both.
When I look at the setting for the Library it does not show any devices under the UPnP / DNLA tab. (My laptop shows four)
I've tried unticking and reticking share automatically with new devices.
I've unplugged the smart TV and replugged.

The port was originally at 53892, I changed it to 4000 and still nothing. I checked out what port my laptop was using and tried that instead (laptop turned off) still nothing.

You may be missing or have disabled a Windows component (I'm not sure which right now). You could try: http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001367.htm

Cheers. Followed that and sharing was already enabled. I unchecked and checked but still nothing.
If it sounds like a windows problem rather than an MM problem I'll look into it further when I'm back.

It sounds like a Windows problem as both client and server part are failing. If you have WMP you can test it (or any other DLNA capable software).
