Non-standard characters in path cause codec to show 128 CBR after conversion instead of VBR
I tried to convert an album from flac to 285 VBR. There was an infinity sign in the file path from the album name and every file ended up with 128 CBR. Once I removed all of the non-standard characters from the input file path and tags, it worked as expected showed as VBR. In the end, the file size is the same as VBR . However because the 128 bit codec is wrong some music players like Foobar 2000 report a wrong time.

Which Build (Help > About) are you using and are you using custom settings or a preset?
