Monday! What a great week.

My background is a long history of Tech... Hardware and Software Support, Development, Management, Senior Management... Tech is my passion!
If that what you say is true then I was right to ask you for opinion and I certainly haven't thought you implied anything derogatory or rude about MM I just recognized knowledge, expertise and objectivity. So yes there are bugs, yes they should be fixed, yes they will be fixed (at least some till new one pops out) I do not see anything rude.
M0nk3yBoy wrote:Rewriting / Remodelling... Hmmmm, sometimes a line needs to be drawn in the sand... Maybe not in MM case (WinAmp?)
You will need to elaborate that a bit, not sure what are you implying.
M0nk3yBoy wrote:, lets use Windows as an example... legacy stuff in there is still shocking!!!
I would say thank you for that (sfc, netstat, dir /s >dir.txt, ...)
M0nk3yBoy wrote:There is no one stop shop for media management in my humble opinion, wouldn't it be great if MM was?
That is the general idea, but without shop or I'm thinking about iTunes.
M0nk3yBoy wrote:I use two apps for Metadata \ Art etc... "MusicBrainz Picard" and "tinyMedia Manager" both sexy as hell! and free (Takes some work to get your head around advanced settings and maybe scripting but when configured they both work like a dream) before adding to any player/server/dbase etc. Even these tools with the power of Discog's in the back ground (1 example) wont find everything...
I'm not fund of Picard(Prefer MM), but you are right. Thank you for tinyMedia Manager, Completely forgot about that one (Too bad it dosn't run headless). Discog is useful to its extend, but depend on file source (I used it for CD RIPs).
M0nk3yBoy wrote:Plex, free or not, functionality no different as far as I'm aware (maybe private update channel?), It's App licensing on multiplatform devices, or have I missed a biggie? I thought about Lifetime recently as its on offer, Feck the cash cow!
Totally agree, but with internet speeds increasing it is useful.
M0nk3yBoy wrote:I've paid for Gold Lifetime Software / Membership for things to go belly up eventually and regret the purchase...
I never regret the purchases, as I purchase/use only those that pay off one way or another.
M0nk3yBoy wrote:When you say 120K is that tracks or albums or all media?
Music tracks only, have over 600 Purchased Compilation CDs and more than 2k of EP CDs and around 1.5k of LPs (>250 digitized)
M0nk3yBoy wrote:I recently culled a lot of media from all my libraries (an attempt to go legit), over half of my music alone. My current music library is 49000K tracks. Plex and MM were both fine with double that...
Tested plex on my library and browsing music is pain in the ... and lots of work to be done for Compilation CDs like missing artworks data and searching.
M0nk3yBoy wrote:I don't use MM for Movies/TV tbh, Plex looks prettier and doesn't rely on DNLA interface as much, Plex also has Agents... Channels... Available outside my home network (over VPN could use work but hey
Even Plex relay is okay...
Again I agree, but change is coming.
M0nk3yBoy wrote:I stopped using Kodi, Non-accountability for dodgy 3rd party "App's" not on my watch
Although PVR functionality is awesome!
I do not have any issues with third party plugins if they work and you know what you need and how to set them. PVR is best, I had PC based on Kodi, three TV cards (ATi TV Wonder 650) in it so that I can watch one have PIP and record third at same time, TermalTake iMon VFD, ATi Remote wonder II where there is no better on 60" screen.
M0nk3yBoy wrote:That said MM has a lot of very good functionality like PodCasts, Web Radio, Audiobooks etc... I did go Lifetime but found the Explorer thing to frustrating and got my money back.
Now you have teh reason to buy again
M0nk3yBoy wrote:As for dream functionality, (Think Couch Potato
using both USENET and Torrents with Web to Plex add-on from Browser with accurate metadata/lyrics/art...). But legal...
For me (currently) combination is Sonarr, Jdownloader2 (Headless), Plex For TV and Music Videos then CouchPotato, Plex, Kodi for Movies and MM exclusively for Music
M0nk3yBoy wrote:Time is money? All of these things are just tools that enable pleasure/distraction and having to spend time in Forums while very pleasurable in itself to me is Time. I do this for fun and for work... Hope my rant is of some help
Rant? I do not think so, as you said it is your time and opinion which should be respected. Any feedback is good feedback if thought about it seriously.
