1355: Portable mode and MMIP files
My understanding is that a Portable installation of MM should not create anything on the system disk, including file associations.
If there are no associations to be created then how does one add any scripts which come packaged as an MMIP file? You're supposed to double-click to install them!
Perhaps there needs to be an "Install MMIP" option on a menu added ....

You can drag mmip files to the MM player.

Re: 1355: Portable mode and MMIP files
I think it would be nice though if this can be done from the menu's as it isn't apparent that the it can be done on the Player.

Re: 1355: Portable mode and MMIP files
I run MM under Ubuntu via Wine ... the drag/drop approach doesn't work in that world as the dropped path is actually a Linux path, not Windows.
My work around is to manually copy/paste the files into place.

Re: 1355: Portable mode and MMIP files
I assume that this has fallen on deaf ears and is not going to happen
It's a shame as it would be an easy addition.

Re: 1399: Portable mode and MMIP files
Now that I have my instances of MM3 and MM4 running under Wine on my Macbook Air this has become a greater problem for me. http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 76#p303676
All I need is a menu option ("Install MMIP") that browses for a an MMIP file and loads into MM. Alternatively extend the function of the File/Open menu item to operate on MMIP files.
Can I request that this can be added to MM4?

Re: 1355: Portable mode and MMIP files
Why not just drag & drop MMIP files onto the Player? I don't think a Portable app can register anything to open files as it doesn't use the registry.

Re: 1355: Portable mode and MMIP files
I'm running a Mac with MM running under Wine.
If I drag a file onto MM it gets given a path to an MMIP file which is a Unix style /User/mark/Desktop/abc.mmip which MM (which is Windows) can't handle. It will want something like c:\Users\Mark\Desktop\abc.mmip.

Re: 1355: Portable mode and MMIP files
I'd stress that this is essential for any Wine user. Without it the mmip files need to have the contents installed manually.

Re: 1355: Portable mode and MMIP files
This says fixed in 1415 but that does not seem to have added the button suggested with "A simple solution would be to add a 'Add...' button to the 'Extensions' dialog, to the left of the 'Find Updates' button, so that users could then browse for .mmip files."

Re: 1355: Portable mode and MMIP files
The fix was to accept mmip files from any path, so it should work with drag and drop on linux/mac os.markstuartwalker wrote:This says fixed in 1415 but that does not seem to have added the button suggested with "A simple solution would be to add a 'Add...' button to the 'Extensions' dialog, to the left of the 'Find Updates' button, so that users could then browse for .mmip files."

Re: 1355: Portable mode and MMIP files
No, the [Add] button wasn't added, but D&D should accept the Linux/Mac paths now.
Re-opened the http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=8091 in order to add the [Add] button.

Re: 1355: Portable mode and MMIP files
Thank you. I'm very keen to see this added.
I'm unsure what the D&D fix implementation was with Unix paths. There's more than just the folder divider difference between Windows and Unix: Windows has drive letters and Unix has mount points in a unified file structure.

Re: 1355: Portable mode and MMIP files
Whhhhoooooo hooooooo !!! Looks like build 1421 has given me the "Add" button that I always wanted.
http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=8091
Initial test shows that it does exactly what I wanted I actually think that this is more logical than double clicking the mmip file.
Edit: Unfortunately although a windows 7 build looks perfect the Wineskin implementation on my Mac is broken and won't launch. Build 1421 is listed as a developer build so fingers crossed that the problems will shortly be resolved,
