Can't burn cds

Post by glennergy »

After three years of never having any problems burning disks, suddenly in the last month, I can no longer burn cds from Mediamonkey. I just installed the latest version, 3.1.1.1261, hoping it would help, but it did not.

Whenever I try, it will burn about half the disk, and then it will suddenly stop and give me an Error Message, as follows:

ERROR CODE: 40900. Hardware Error: Track Following Error.

Can anyone help me?

more likely you can fix it by just buying a cdrom drive cleaning disk from a store, this said disk is just a cdrom with some bristles on it in different locations so when you play it the laser light lens gets cleaned off. remember your movie's real genius they put a thumb print on the glass which the laser had to go through? it caused a melt down. the melt down was drama for the movie but the fact that it caused an error was not.

so keep cleaning it every now and then just to make sure there is no dust.
now if that does not help then you might be in need of a new set of cdrom drive software drivers. try going to the Microsoft download site and see if they find any missing or updated drivers. go to the site by going to windows update from link on your IE menu bar's tools context menu then look in left frame of site for link to Microsoft updates and go there, its a better update site then the windows one.

also they just came out with an new batch of updates maybe one of them fixes your trouble. if no software fixes can help. then you have a toasted or burnt ram chip in the cdrom drive or some other part of it is toasted. find a new one that you like and buy the new cdrom drive. 8)
