[B3&B4] UI issues found during translation [F-3685]

Post by gege »

During translation process, I found some UI problems like incorrect alignment, unlocalized strings or strings not fitting the control's size.
Below are screenshots with the problems found so far:

These were fixed in MM3B4, after updating language pack:

But these weren't:

And, finally, there's this new one:

In "Edit Filter & Views options" dialog, I have a problem to translate the following strings:

"Match + [All|Any] + of the following criteria:"

In portuguese, when we join the strings, one of the resulting phrases is incorrect.

In order to get both phrases correct, I'd need this scheme:
"Match + [All of the following criteria:|Any of the following criteria:]"
like in this mockup:

Let me add here some related localization problems.

For the "Match all|any of the following criteria", In Spanish we have a similar problem to what Gege describes, but it's not a big deal. However, there's a bigger problem. In the source .po file, there are two strings to translate:

Code: Select all

Match @@all@@ of the following criteria
and

Code: Select all

Match @@any@@ of the following criteria
I translated both preserving the structure of the source, but in MM I see the translation only for the all/any words (in a dropdown box). The Match/of the following criteria is not translated. This for example happens in the Advance tab of Autoplaylists creation/editing.

Also, the string Wizard appears to be unlocalized (in the context of launching the location wizard; it appears in several places).

Pablo,
rusty confirmed that there will be another update to string set, and this "Match all|any..." problem will be addressed.

Pablo, in RC1 the "Match all|any" problem was solved.
I just found out the best way to translate this in portuguese is:

Code: Select all

"Match @@All@@ of the following criteria:"
"Coincidir com @@Todos os critérios abaixo:@@"

"Match @@Any@@ of the following criteria:"
"Coincidir com @@Qualquer um dos critérios abaixo:@@"
Works exactly as I expected.

Regarding "Wizard", you're right. It's not in the string set. But you can add it manually in the final of default.po with Notepad (see code bellow), and then open it in POedit just to save the file and thus update default.mo. This way it will appear translated in the UI. Only problem is the button size is too small for translated string in portuguese...

Code: Select all

#
msgid "Wizard"
msgstr "Assistente"
BTW, your translation looks very good. Maybe I can use it to learn just a little of spanish
