mmw 4 mkv tags vs mkv file modified date

Hi ..Since meny years I learnt mkv videos do not have solid /rich tag capabilities
So, I undestand in mm, mkv tags are not stored in the mkv file but only in mm's db...
however each time i edit some mkv video's tags in mm ...the actual mkv file's "modified date" changes.
So my question is why?, why change the file's date if the file received no change (inside)?
Another related question, we can see here at info About Track Properties at https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index. ... erties/4.0 that mkv tags are read only , it says "MKV (read only)" what does that mean? I mean we are free to edit mkv tags (IE not read only), and as afore mentioned, they are not stored inside the mkv..then what do you mean by "read only" tag now?
