Re: Discogs Tagger 5.75 (Updated: 2020-05-05)

When doing auto-tag from web, it usually works fine. But recently, I am finding that some look-ups fail even when I search for the exact name found on discogs.com. I get the error "No Release found at Discogs !! Please change the search parameter in 'Manual search'". I've tried all kinds of variations with no luck. It just doesn't find it.

For Example: Glenn Miller - Greatest Hits

Any suggestions to fix this?

I apologize if this has been resolved. I didn't see it.

I find in situations like that to first look up the album on the Discogs site, then copy the catalog number and paste it into the search field in the MediaMonkey dialog. That does seem to work most of the time.

That worked. Thanks!

I agree, I've done a lot of tagging and to my mind at least I find it easiest to use the Discogs site (or sometimes the Discogs app where you can scan the barcode if you have the hard copy). It's much easier to browse the versions and identify the exact one you want to use there, then just copy the release code into the tagger.

I'm using tagger version 5.75 and MMW version 4.1.29.1910

I'm having problems again with the tagger changing track and disc numbers. This time I'm noticing it when I uncheck some Discogs track titles in the upper window, but not others. One other funny thing is the mixup doesn't necessarily involve the tracks I've unchecked.

If it helps, one example is this album: https://www.discogs.com/Dexter-Gordon-T ... se/3013705 If I uncheck the track title for 1-5 or 1-7, it mixes up the disc and track numbers for 2-10 and 3-2.

Thanks for your help.

The search engine on the Discogs website is more powerful than the search engine with the api interface. I asked at Discogs, why they don't use the same engine, but i didn't got an answer...

Posting an example is always useful !
It's strange, indeed. I will take a look at it.

Discogs - Web Tag by title and auto populate with year

Hi,

I am new to this and am looking to web tag all of my MP3's (sold my vinyl due to lack of space). I am struggling to understand if I can use the Discogs Tagger to tag by title and then add the year as I only get the option of artist and album.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt.

Hi Matt,

first you need to add your mp3's to the Mediamonkey library, if you didn't done that before. After that you select a complete album and start web tag. The Tagger get the album, artist name and the first title and look at discogs for the album.

Greetings,
Sven

When Tagging an MP3 using Auto-Tag from Web and the Discogs Tagger (version 5.7.5)... When selecting "Save Cover" and clicking "More Images", when I checkbox even one additional image and choose "Cover (back)" as the type and checkbox "Save Image", after clicking "ok" I get the error:

Code: Select all

Error #4242 - Microsoft VBScript runtime error
Object required: 'itm'
File: "C:\Users\<myusername>\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey\Scripts\DiscogsWebTag.vbs", Line: 5520, Column: 5
Please fix this in the next release, thank you in advance!

Is it possible changing the background color of the unselected rows? The combination of using a light and bright text on a bright, almost white, background is not very successful if you want to read the text, but that is what happens when using a dark skin, with bright texts (see my dr.sol player special for example). The font color follows from the skin, but the background seems to be set to a light color and the combination of font color and background is not successful.

I thought all color settings are done in the skin?

I don't think all settings is in the skin, there are several dark background skins having the same problem
