When doing a query you can not enter numbers using the nemeric key pad.

Yes, that is true, numeric keypad is reserved for controlling playback. If it's problem for you, go to the setup dialog and set an option that Control key is necessary for using numeric keypad for controlling playback.

Probably this option could be on by default as it can cause some misunderstandings.
