Repair Old Script Broken by MM4

I'm just an ordinary MM user with just a little script writing ability. I have an old script that I really like, but changes in MM4 created some issues with it. I've been able to figure out how to overcome all but one issue. I've searched the forums and looked in the script wiki, but wasn't able to find anything. Can someone tell me where to look for information on what triggers the message "Reading files..." in the status bar ?
