WinAmp playlist vs. MM Now Playing

Post by Lowlander »

I'm currently experiencing problems with the now playing list in MM when using WinAmp. When moving files on the list in WinAmp MM doesn't always pick these changes up and secondly frequently displays the wrong song as now playing (often shows the song playing which has the same place on the WinAmp list, in other words if song 7 on WinAmp list is playing it will show song 7 on MM list as playing, even if this is a different song).

Software: MM 2.0 free, WinAmp 2.91 and WinXP Pro.
Hardware: AMD XP 1700Mhz, 512Mb PC2100, CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio Device (Sound) and Sis 740 (Display)

Urgency: Would like to see that solved soon

There is a problem that not everything in WinAmp can be easily monitored and thus the WinAmp integration cannot be 100%. We rather want to implement everything necessary in MM - currently the main thing is visualization support, then the need for WinAmp as an external player will not be too big.

I'm all for MM taking care of everything, instead of using WinAmp. Anyhow anyone can use WinAmp or whatever other player they like by exporting playlists and importing them in their favorite program (if available).

Maybe all player functionality should be taken out of MM when WinAmp is used. In other words no Now Playing node and no player controls (those do work) and no song playing display.
