MM Year field and Winamp

Yesterday I was at a party, I had my external HD with all my music with me. We used Winamp to play all night,
one thing I noticed, was that the yearfield was blank on all files in Winamp.

I have just downloaded Winamp to do some testing as the empty yearfield puzzled me.

It turns out that if you fill the yearfield in MM it actually are empty in Winamp.

If you fill the yearfield in WInamp, the year comes out right in MM.

Any easy solution to this? I would like the year to appear in both players, as many of my friends use Winamp for some odd reason, and they are not likely to change that. Old habbits are hard to kill.

I really do not fancy retagging several thousand files in Winamp.

I did a search but nothing that seemed right came up.

This has to do with mp3 files and how each program stores the year data in the mp3 tags. See:

I really do not feel like tagging all my files by hand, so is there any easy way to move/copy the current year tag to the other Winamp compatible tag?

You don't need to.

- Close MM.
- Open the file mediamonkey.ini with notepad and add/edit the section that nohitter151 gave you:

[MP3Tagging]
DisableFrames=TDAT;TDRC
EnableFrames=TYER

- Save the file and run MM.

Now you only need to refresh all your tags:
- Select desired tracks
- Tools|Advanced tag management|Clean ID3v1 and V2 tags.
- Tools|Advanced tag management|Synchronize tags (Ctrl-S).

After that Winamp will see the year info.
