MusicBrainz Tagger [MM3] v2.0 2008-03-29
Re: MusicBrainz Tagger [MM3] v2.0 2008-03-29
Need a location to change URL/location of musicbrainz server. (I have one running locally!)
Re: MusicBrainz Tagger [MM3] v2.0 2008-03-29
Hi
With apologies in advance for the particularly dumb question, I'm not particularly tech savvy. Could you give me a REALLY SIMPLE step by step guide to installing this script/plugin?
If you could give me something similar for Discogs also, that would be really brilliant
Thanks in advance
Mici

Regarding script installations, if you're running Windows 7/Vista start MM with admin rights and then simply click (or double-click) the mmip file. It'll install itself.mici23 wrote:Hi

I've tried this, installed the 3 applications, but no sign of the functionality in MM.
I extracted the zip file created when I downloaded it, opened MM as administrator and fired up the 3 applications as administrator. I've closed MM and opened it again, but can't see any changes. Should I be able to see anything different in the Script file if I was successful as I don't see anything there?

MusicBrainz shows when you auto-tag from web. For example, select any song and hit ctrl-l (or right-click and auto-tag) and when the new window opens, click on options at the upper right. You'll see MusicBrainz as one of the options.

Yep, trying that, but all I'm getting is various Amazon sites to look up.

As far as I know, I've installed it. Can anyone else help, no idea what to do next?
Re: MusicBrainz Tagger [MM3] v2.0 2008-03-29
Sorry, one last question. After you've installed it (you should have gotten a popup box saying it was installed) and you then run MM as administrator, does it not show up when you auto-tag from web?

Re: MusicBrainz Tagger [MM3] v2.0 2008-03-29
This is IMHO an incredible script! I have used Media Monkey for awhile and have done websearches to tag my music using a combination of the discogs script and MusicIP script - first learning to use the default amazon site. I have also run my tracks on the MusicBrainz standalone program outside of Media Monkey. This Musicbrainz script has made it sooooo much easier to find the correct album. I can not believe what a difference it has made. I don't know if it uses MusicIP (it seems to but the Music IP script is soooo slow) or if it uses all of the options amazon, discogs, Music IP, etc. but whatever or however it works it works seemingly 10x's as fast and the percentage that it is correct outperforms MusicBrainz standalone (and what a pain that can be). This is my new favorite script...far and away the most useful tool I have found in quite some time. I'm kicking myself for not giving it a go a long time ago. Cheers!!

Re: MusicBrainz Tagger [MM3] v2.0 2008-03-29
Will this script work with the NGS (Next Generation Scheme) from Musicbrainz?
Or is anyone still updating this fantastic script for NGS?
Actually - if using with MM4 - I only get a HTML-Errormessage like 'Dieses Programm kann die Webseite nicht anzeigen'.
Regardless, there are some search results. But they are far away from matching. Unfortunately, in this stage, the script for MM4/NGS is nearly useless...
BTW: It would be great if the URL for the Musicbrainz Server would be defined at one (and only) place, not on 19 occurences. This would allow users to replace it easily for a local installed MB-Server (i.e. http://192.168.x.y)

It works in MM4 but you must install it as administrator.

I have installed the script again (this time as Administrator): no difference regarding the HTML-Errormessage.
And I don't think that the choosen install method will make a difference for the script to work with the new NGS-Scheme from MusicBrainz or not.
Does it work for you with NGS?
Are there any logs I could check?

I am using it right now in MM4, and it works fine. You have to install it by first running MM as admin then uncheck the box "Install for current user only" when you first install the addon.MMuser2011 wrote:I have installed the script again (this time as Administrator): no difference regarding the HTML-Errormessage.

Re: MusicBrainz Tagger [MM3] v2.0 2008-03-29
Thank you very much for your patience, nohitter151!
You are right, if I start Mediamonkey 4 with administrator-rights and then uncheck the box 'Nur für den aktuellen Benutzer installieren (keine Administratorrechte notwendig) during the script installation, it works fine!!
Hint: I had to uninstall the script first. Thanks to your instruction, I get useful results now!
Sorry for asking again:
This script is using the 'old' MusicBrainz-Databasescheme. Do you know, if the script will be updated to use the NGS-Scheme in the near future?
