Just List Albums 2.1 - Updated 17/03/2013
Well "Custom Report" is designed for reporting on tracks. I know that one user has set uip an autoplaylist to only show album tracks with a track number of 1 and this allows them to run the report to effectively build an album list though.
This script is on my list to be updated, but I can't say when it'll get done, sorry.

New version (1.3) is now available to download from my website. Changes include...
- Made compatible with MM3
- Added extra fields for MM3
- Added option to specify a different mask for compilations
The compilation mask only works in MM3 and is used when there are different artists represented on an album. If you have an album which is by an artist but with different featured artists then as long as the album artist is the first one on each track then you will still get "Mask" and not "CompMask".

I need a little help with this one because obviously I am missing something. I would like to see all my Compilation albums listed once using the Album Artist, which is Various Artists, but it does not appear that AlbumArtist is an acceptable mask for the CompMask. Am I misinterpreting? If so, where am I making the changes for the CompMask to use AlbumArtist instead of Artist?

In the Mask and CompMask variables <Artist> is the album artist.

How are compilation albums configured in the script, in other words what makes a compilation album??

The script checks the first artist of each track and if there are any differences then it's a compilation. For example...
1) Mask
- ArtistA - Title1
- ArtistA - Title2
- ArtistA; ArtistB - Title3
- ArtistA; - Title4
2) CompMask
- ArtistA - Title1
- ArtistB - Title2
- ArtistC - Title3
Is that any clearer?
1) Mask
- ArtistA - Title1
- ArtistA - Title2
- ArtistA; ArtistB - Title3
- ArtistA; - Title4
2) CompMask
- ArtistA - Title1
- ArtistB - Title2
- ArtistC - Title3
Is that any clearer?

Ok, I think I got it now. I got confused because it was listing the compilation albums under the first artist of the first available track when I was expecting to see the album listed under the album artist.
Thanks for your patience AGAIN.

What do you mean by this? It doesn't sound right! :Snynaevelan wrote:it was listing the compilation albums under the first artist of the first available track when I was expecting to see the album listed under the album artist.

I have my compilation artists set up as:
Artist: ArtistA or ArtistB or ArtistC
AlbumArtist: Various Artists
Grouping: Compilation Album
If the album is Soul Christmas Classics and
01 - Mariah Carey
02 - Alicia Keys
03 - Mary J. Blige
In the report all the tracks will list under Mariah Carey. Personally I would prefer they would all list under Various Artists.

Sorry, I'm being a bit dense. In the Mask and CompMask the <Artist> should be translated to "Various Artists" and the <Artist> in TrackMask should be translated to "Mariah Carey" for the first track and "Alicia Keys" for the second track, etc. Which mask is not translating correctly for you?

The Mask/CompMask are not being translated correctly, the TrackMask works as intended. Here's an example, these are compilation albums with all the tracks having different artists:
