Not OP but I freshly installed 5.0.4.2692 and I cannot type in the search field (top right) at all.
I can focus it (the lil position indicator is flashing) and I can open the context menu to go to advanced search etc.
But I cannot type anything at all. As if my keyboard isn't connected (which it obviously is, I'm not voice dictating this post)
edit: For others having this problem in the future - I fixed it with
File - Manage Database - Rebuild Full-Text Search Index (tooltip actually says it helps when the text search is not working properly)
Either that or a restart did the trick.
