MM 5.1 doesn't start [#20270]

Post by gernot08 »

Media Monkey for Windows 5.1.0.2816 Beta doesn't start. It shows up in the task manager as background process, but no window opens. Vers. 2692 runs fine.

I started with no_GPu batch first, nothing happens, killed the process and tried mediamonkey.exe. In both cases the wondwos doesn't open.

I'm running Windows 10 Home 22H2, Intel Core i3-6100 CPU, 4 GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 530

Hi,
Can you please install https://www.mediamonkey.com/beta/MediaM ... _Debug.exe as portable and try to start it and if yes you can delete portable folder. I am just wondering if Chromium update in MM 5.1 is the reason for the non starting?

Is that with the Portable of 2802 as Peke requested?

If so, please capture the failure to start of 2817 in a debug log (step 4b) and attach the log to a Support Ticket: viewtopic.php?t=86643

This will help a developer analyze why this fails on your setup.

Hi,
Thank you for the bump I was looking at the ticket you sent and found out that the crash was in line:
"Crash in chromium message loop: Access violation at address 08187EB3 in module 'libcef.dll'. Read of address 00000010"

The crash indicate issue with initializing Chromium rendering engine which is from 5.0.4.2690(2692) in 5.1.0.2802 upgraded from 98 -> 109 and as you already pointed you have Intel Core i3-6100 CPU, 4 GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 530 which is 8 years old and lacks newer graphics rendering capabilities that potentially can crash MM (Unfortunately we have not been able to replicate on our available hardware). Unfortunately. these kind of issues are very hard to fix unless you have way to replicate crash.

That is why I asked you to test the earliest publicly available MM5.1.0.2802.

Please Install https://www.mediamonkey.com/sw/MediaMon ... _Debug.exe and https://www.mediamonkey.com/beta/MediaM ... _Debug.exe as PORTABLE (select portable during install) in two separate folder c:\MM2692 and c:\MM2802 and see which one start.

In case that both do not start then it is very likely that something on your PC have changed (drivers, windows update, settings, ...) which makes MM not start as 5.0.4.2690 is released year ago and you used it it meantime.

Thank you for patience we would really like to get to bottom of it in order to resolve it.

Thank you for your help.

2690 starts but 2802 doesn't.
I have 2692 installed wich also works fine.

Hi,
So as I suspected Chromium update is the cause and very likely your Intel 530 GPU :(

EDIT: Can you please start EDGE and in Address bar enter "chrome:gpu" you will get the info that you can copy/paste in your reply using </> icon above.
