metadata missing in car stereo playback [#19933]

Post by dache74 »

Hello. I am using MMA Pro 2.0.0.1073. I switched from the production version of MMA to fix the landscape/portrait screen rotation crashing. That issue is now fixed, but I have a new one I did not have with the production version. When I connect via Bluetooth to my car stereo, no track metadata info is shown now -- it just says "Unknown" for artist, track name, etc. The car stereo also does not display the track progress. The track still plays, and the steering wheel controls (volume, skip) work.

This used to work in the production version but broke after updating to Beta.

Car stereo model: Pioneer MVH-200EX
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

Thanks.

Hi,
Check your phone developer options BT settings that is set to AVRCP 1.6 and if that do not help try to change to AVRCP 1.4 for testing.

Peke,

Changing AVRCP from 1.5 to 1.6 fixed it. Thank you!

Hi,
My pleasure.
If it is not to hustle for you, may I ask you to test all other options on Device and write down behavior?

It is possible that some devices require/support specific version in order to work correctly. We would like to write down knowledgebase article about that, so other users can benefit from it.

You bet. here you go:

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra - track metadata over Bluetooth:
AVRCP 1.6 = works
AVRCP 1.5 = does not work
AVRCP 1.4 = works
AVRCP 1.3 = works

Bluetooth Audio to Car Headset not displaying song info after upgrade to V2.x

Post by RickMM »

I connect my phone (Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G) via bluetooth to my car's headset (Hyundai i30 2015 model) to play songs from MMA. With MMA 1.x it always displayed the Artist's name and song title on the car's headset. Since been upgraded to MMA v2.x the display on my car's headset shows Artist as "Empty" and Song Title as "Not Provided" (it does still play the song). I have unpaired and then paired my phone back to the headset but that didn't fix the issue. I have turned off the car then re-started the car but that didn't fix it either. I then turned off the car then 'Re-Started' my phone then turned on the car and the first time after that it did display the correct relevant song information of the headset but the subsequent times that I turned off the car and then turn it back on again it does not display the relevant song information.

I found this topic which closes matches my issue viewtopic.php?t=103998
but I can't try that solution as I can't find those options on my phone (Galaxy S20 FE).

BTW - Am I posting this stuff in the correct forum?

Hi,
Developer Options can be easily accessed (usually) after you continuously tap on BUILD NUMBER in ABOUT DEVICE Screen till it gets unlocked.

Thanks Peke for the tip on how to access Developer mode. My phone's AVRCP was set to 1.5, changing it from 1.5 to 1.6 fixed it. Thanks

Same issue after the android update I got today. None of 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6 work. 1.5 was the default. I was able to get meta data of one song when re-adding the connection, but cannot seem to replicate that.

It appears this was only a temporary fix, I got into my car today (to go somewhere) and the metadata was not displayed. I had to 're-start' my phone to fix the issue. Then when I was returning home the same day (after arriving at my destination, parking and turning off the car) the issue occurred again. I quickly tried setting AVRCP to 1.4 but that didn't dix it.

A fix to this was included in beta build 1076. Can you let us know if it solves the problem for you?

Thanks!

How do I install build 1076? Google Play has build 1073. I never officially joined the beta test team but somehow got MMA2 this month.
