Have been using MM5 (from iTunes) for a short time and have MM Gold.
All my music is stored and accessed from an external hard drive, which is the same as when I was using iTunes.
When playing some music there is no sound. Error message states " File cannot be decoded - DRM restrictions" Properties list this music as MP3. It played fine when using iTunes. All my music is from purchased CDs
On a search there was a suggestion to covert to different format then back to MP3 and another to convert to "Flac". Not sure what the best fix for this is??
Can anyone help? Thanks

Re: DRM Restrictions
I wouldn't convert these DRM tracks to FLAC as that would be a waste as their audio quality is no greater than an MP3. There are several approaches to converting these files (their extension is probably M4P). You can Google various approaches - some you have to pay for, but the one I found most useful is to use iTunes to burn the files to a cd as an audio disc (not an MP3 disc) and then use MM to rip the disc as MP3. I was able to convert all my M4P files this way.
Re: DRM Restrictions
Are you sure they're MP3 files and not iTunes DRM protected files from the iTunes store?

Re: DRM Restrictions
MM version: 5.0.1.2433
None of my music was purchased online or from iTunes.
I have uninstalled iTunes since MM was working so well - maybe not so?
Cumbersome to re-record all the tracks to CD then back into MM. Not a better solution?

Re: DRM Restrictions
Yes, it seems these tracks are M4P. But the few I found are from CDs.
Can I not just go to properties/format and convert to MP3?

Re: DRM Restrictions
Then they probably have iTunes DRM. DRM protected files can't be converted as the DRM protection prevents this. If you install and play a file with QuickTime you may be able to play them in MediaMonkey: https://www.mediamonkey.com/support/kno ... aac-files/

Re: DRM Restrictions
There are 3rd party software to convert. Any of those work?
Re: DRM Restrictions
What if I locate the CD, will MM download the music to playable format?
Re: DRM Restrictions
I just did a search for "M4P" and came up with only 17 tracks. Maybe not such a big deal. Still want to convert.
