Download error flag.

Post by Tough_Choices »

Hi.

Just a quick Q. I've noticed a wee 'flag' pop up from the foot of the screen today. It reads as follows:
Download Error Embe
It also has an 'X' for, I presume, closing said flag, but it then drops from the foot of the screen on its own anyway, before popping up again.
It doesn't (yet) seem to be affecting anything adversely, but I just thought I'd ask in case it indicated something I should be concerned about.

This is build 2024.0.0.3019 running on Windows 11.

Recent activity has involved uninstalling the three Apple apps from the Microsoft store (Music, Devices and TV+) that are 'supposed' to replace iTunes, and re-installing iTunes for Windows 64bit from the Apple website.
I'm not deserting MMW5 - no way. I just find it easier (for me) to transfer music files to my i-devices via iTunes.

Actually, the comment above about no adverse effects...? Scratch that. MMW5 is running more slowly than I'm used to.

Aaaaaannnd...when ripping CDs, any edits I make to the properties of albums and tracks pre-rip are not transferring to the ripped version.

Please restart PC and try again. I have no issues having tag changes pre-rip show up on ripped files.

Yup...tried restarting (including shutting down completely for hours at a time) repeatedly, but still getting no recognition of changes made.

I swear to all/any higher powers possibly believed in by any users here,

...the ripping rituals are now becoming a real challenge...and I guess my neighbours don't dig 'em either 'cos the language...? It is, to say the least, explicit!

Why does a 3-disc box set become a two hour affair to rip and convert??

Why is every keying of the 'return' button a whole new send?

Is the fact I'm using a portable CD drive a factor?

Tried installing an Optiarc CD drive earlier and it resulted in the same sound distortion that the previous internal drive resulted in.

Any other users of Windows 11 having CD playback sound quality issues with an internal drive?

My 'build' dude suggested a Hitachi brand drive was 'fault-free', but we need to double-test that before committing to a definitive opinion.

I use several external drives and none of them have issues ripping with MediaMonkey.

Can you please detail what issues you're actually having. You've mentioned something with an error message initially, but without the full error message I'm unsure what it is. You've also mentioned tag changes made prior to rip not showing on the ripped files. You're now mentioning distortion, is that a new issue? None of these issues I see when using MediaMonkey to Rip.

What format are you ripping to and are you leveling volume on rip?
