Questions about migration

Post by Arafel »

Hi

I remember trying MM about 7 or 8 years ago and finding it not as friendly as iTunes. However, I recently upgraded my stereo in my car, and my trusty old iPod Classic is no longer compatible with any modern car stereos. So, it got me thinking of MM as a solution. I see that MM has an Android app, which makes me intrigued.

Questions:

1) Does MM import album artwork from iTunes?
2) I have about 40 songs from the iTunes store that have DRM; will those play in MM? Can MM strip the DRM?
3) Does the MM app in Android function as a music player?
4) My iTunes has about 75-100 songs I ripped from DVD back in the day, and they are stored as I think M4V. Can MM manage those, either in the existing format or by converting them to AAC?
5) Can I export from MM to a flash drive for the car until I can upgrade my phone to an S24 Ultra with 512-1 gb storage? My current iPod has about 140 gb on it, so I need a lot of room if I want to go native in MM on my phone.

Thanks for any and all help!

1. No, unfortunately iTunes uses proprietary methods for Artwork not compatible with others: https://www.mediamonkey.com/support/kno ... diamonkey/
2. With QuickTime authorized: https://www.mediamonkey.com/support/kno ... aac-files/ No, MediaMonkey can't strip the DRM (check with iTunes if you can replace them with non-DRM copies): https://www.mediamonkey.com/support/kno ... ted-files/
3. MediaMonkey for Android is a music player
4. You may need the MediaMonkey Codec Pack: https://www.mediamonkey.com/support/kno ... aac-files/ MediaMonkey can't convert video to audio files.
5. Yes: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHel ... Tracks/5.0

Thanks. If MM recognizes the files, will it add artwork? I have a huge library, and it would take a lot of time to add artwork to each individual album

MM can sync music to your phone.
It can auto-transcode large lossless files from your PC, down to more compact versions for your phone, which still sound great. EG. if your PC files were flac, MM could transcode these to high res mp3 file, which reduces the file size ten fold.
MM allows you select what to sync across based upon flexible selection criteria.
You can refresh the music on your phone at will. It housekeeps anything no longer meeting selection criteria, and only copies across fresh items.
Want a dark skin for MM5? This is the one that works best for me .. elegant, compact & clear.
