Genres

Post by MusicLoverxXxX »

Hi,

Is it possible with MMW5 to get a list of the genres and change them ?
Some of them are not with a capital letter..

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Mario.

Hi Mario, a couple of cases I often use.

Select the Entire Library node in the left hand area and then Genre node beneath this.

Case 1:
Select (for example) "Electronique" so it is highlighted.

Press F2 to edit and correct to "Electronic" and press enter.

Check the status bar as it might show whilst this "edit" progresses. This will depend on the number of Tracks with the edited Genre / speed of computer etc.

Case 2:
Select "Pop / Rock"

F2 edit from to "Pop; Rock"

Wait for the Genre sub-node to update. The "Pop / Rock" Genre will disappear whilst the tracks move to fall under "Pop" and "Rock".

Hope this helps.

Hi Mario, one way to get a (printable) list of your Genres.

1). Using the File / Manage Database menu option, create a backup of your MMW5.DB and note the location of your backup.

2). After installing DB Browser for SQL Lite, open your backup copy of the MMW5.DB e.g. MM_20240117123701.DB for the backup created today at 12:37

3). Select browse data and the Genres table then use the printer icon or copy and paste.

Whilst a little "outside" of the core MMW5, you may find this approach useful for other reasons! I strongly recommend that you use a backup of the MMW5.DB. In fact why not create a daily / weekly backup schedule for your MMW5.DB as it represents A LOT of your time...

Hope this is useful.
