hi
i am trying to add my mmw media server so i can access it remotely
after entering the ip address and port, regardless of setting http or https, after clicking the Add button, the dialog just closes, and my entry is not displayed.
i can't tell if this means it tried to access and ran into an error, or this is a bug, or (?)

Is the server actually available when you're adding it?

well that sure is handy !
same thing when i scan the QR code though, nothing happens.
tho i might be confused about something. with wifi enabled, i do have the server added, visible and it seems to work. however i am trying to set up access when i am not on my home network, so the behavior i described is when i turn wifi off.

i turned wifi off to try and add the server for remote access, and in this case it's not seeing the server (i was specifying the external ip, which has the port forwarded).
if i turn wifi on, the server appears, but with it's internal ip address.

DLNA works only within the same network. This is why the server won't show when you're off the home network or with wi-fi is off.
You can make it work outside the network, but it requires port forwarding in the router: https://www.mediamonkey.com/support/kno ... e-network/

Re: can't add media server in mma - no error, just nothing happens
FYI we are working on some improvements for MM5.1 so that it is easier to access MM5 outside Home enviroment.
To check your external IP and be sure you re not on CGNAT (ISP grade internal networking), login on router and check if router assigned WAN IP is same as one you get from this address http://checkip.dyndns.org/ if they are different then most likely you will not be able to access MM5 outside Local network, unless you use VPN service that will give you outside/public IP address so that you can open ports.
