MediaMonkey for Windows Update

Post by RiffRaffAK »

After every Update of MMW I have to manually reentered my Gold key and change to my preferred skin and rearrange menus in the way I want them to look.

Is there a way to save my settings before I update MMW? I looked in the Database, Wiki, and this forum without finding any answers.

Thank you.

This shouldn't be the case. Are you just installing the new version on top, or uninstalling MediaMonkey first (you shouldn't)?

I just run the installer. I do not uninstall MediaMonkey.

Currently running MMW 4.1.31.1919.

The following describes scenarios where settings are lost: https://www.mediamonkey.com/support/kno ... -are-lost/

However installing an update won't remove settings or the Library. They should be retained.

Hi,
I am not able to replicate, My settings were preserved during updates.

Are you using some system cleaner that possibly save default files and Registry values MM do during install and clean them on update?

Let me clarify and restate my OP:

After each MMW Update I have to -
1. Reenter my Gold key. Is this normal? I could not find anything in the database, wiki, or this forum addressing this issue.
Additionally, after each update I have to -
2. Change back to my preferred Glided skin.
3. Rearrange my windows and menus to the positions I am used to.

My current installation is MMW 4.1.31.1919 with a clean install on my Dell laptop. I have never installed or run any cleaners on this computer.

My symptoms are limited to those listed above. They do not include the loss of Library or Database. My issues occur after a MMW Update.

Hi,
I understand, but in past 15+ years each time I update MM all my settings are preserved unless MM team noted that you would need to setup plugins, skins again, but never asked me for License upgrade or I needed to rebuild library from scratch.

I am very very proud that I can see track in MM library with added date from 2004.
