German "double s" char. ( ß ) messes with DB

Post by MMFrLife »

It appears that when the German double s character "ß" is used, it can first cause disappearance from the library at moment of application
(actually, you may have to collapse/expand first) within MM. You have to rescan it after disappearance. It also causes MM to playback
with static on any track. Also upon restart, freezing of MM playback occurs when attempting any type of playback of any track in the
database. :(

As soon as I removed it, all back to normal. :D

I had it in my folder structure's album name and the album tag for the tracks on the album. I'm not sure if both conditions have to be met
for problems to occur. Also, I tried rebooting to no avail. It had to be removed.

To get char.: Alt+225

Did you add to the end of an album (> folder; may need to collapse/expand) and to album tags?
I suggest you leave it in for a day or two of use, as it may be unpredictable.

On an internal media HDD, 3 folders deep (album folder). Album name and <Album> tag includes it once for both
places (folder and all album track's tags).

I have ß in plenty of track titles which then end up as part of the file name, but only one album title which ends up as part of the folder name. None of them seem to cause any problems with display or playback (I just played several to check). I did note that searching for Mäßig also finds massig and vice-versa which I thought pretty good; I regularly use several programs where that isn't the case. (I doubt that this actually helps much, but it does indicate that ß can work okay in MM.)

Thanks for the input. I'm not sure why that occurred. I'l try to test it again, but I don't want to mess with it right now.

At times, when I was initially messing around with it, it temporarily stayed in the library and search seemed great. All I had to do was type in "ß" and it would come up.

Yeah, thanks. Who knows what it is. But I appreciate any input on an issue.
