Can't find .ini file.

Post by bramish »

My ext HDD containing my MM library died recently. I have all my music backed up on another HDD and want to change the library location to reflect that. How would I do this?

Ini file location: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... -ini-files

Are you trying to change the database location: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... e-location or redirect MediaMonkey to the new location for your media files: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... e+location

The *.ini file is not there. I searched my whole computer and it doesn't find one. Could it be that it was located on my broken HDD?

I don't remember running any scripts or anything when I first set up Media Monkey but it would automatically scan the location on the broken ext HDD (E:) for new music. I'd like it just to do this for the new HDD (G:)

Make sure you allow hidden and system files to be shown in the Explorer options.

The script is needed to change the references in the Library from the old drive to the backup copies. This way Playlists and Play History aren't lost. You can also clear the database (File > Clear Database) and start fresh.

Folder Monitoring is setup in File > Add/Rescan Files: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... he_Library

Cool. SO the .ini file was still in the default location, where it always was, so I don't need to change that.

But before, whenever I'd drag a folder of music or individual tracks to the Music folder on MM sidebar, it would automatically copy those tracks into what was my default location for all my music (E:Music), and would scan for new files every time MM started. I've dragged my new folder (G:Music) to there but now it doesn't scan on opening so I have to manually add new songs.

Automatically scanning files is Folder Monitoring and needs to be setup in File > Add/Rescan Files: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... he_Library

If you want files to also be auto-moved/renamed use Tools > Options > Auto-Organize: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... enames/4.0
