A Toolbar control for Genre updating?

Post by windcrest77 »

I'm not finding a drop down button that I could place onto the toolbar to select Genre. (so i can multi-select 100 files in the grid then set them all to the same Genre with one click). I can however do a similar activity with the classification buttons which allow me to place a drop down of lets say Occasion in the toolbar and update multiple files to the same classification with one click. Am I missing something? Is Genre available as a toolbar item and i just cant find it? Or is this something that is a blatantly missing item from the toolbars?

I'm in-fact finding many, many, many of the programs features (functions) to be unavailable as toolbar items. (I can make a list of them if the developers want to add these tool bar buttons in next release).

I'm continually having to multi-select a group of files, then launch the properties window with a right click, then click tabs to the correct panel, then select my changes, then press OK. (frequently a right click followed by 3 or 4 other clicks or keyboard activities). When it would be so much easier to multi-select my items, then click one drop down in the toolbar (2 clicks) to update all the selected files to the same genre (or whatever).

usability would be greatly increased by making all the individual Properties available as separate tools, also making all the items on the "Now Playing" pane menu bar also available as global tools for use in a custom toolbar in the main area.

Thanks

I'm not sure what your question is, but you are right that there is no "Genre" toolbar button.

You could instead select tracks and drag/drop them to any genre under the "Genre" node to change them all at once.

Holding CTRL while Drag and Drop you will append That genre to existing one making possible to track(s) and mutiple Genres like "POP; ROCK".

Thanks Peke, I understand that, but dragging and dropping is very difficult with track pads and the operation still means possibly more clicks and God forbid having to scroll and open nodes in the tree area. I know how to do this with one or two clicks if I only had tool buttons. There are still probably 35 or more buttons missing from the available toolbar buttons, those really should be there to make the program complete mostly for file maintenance activities.

I could make a list of needed toolbar buttons if anyone is interested and if it would help maybe to do this in the future.

Or open a new tab with the Genre node selected and drag & drop (+Ctrl to append) files onto the tab to tag with the Genre (no scrolling Media Tree).
