Using MM with Ipod

Do I need to install Itunes on my computer to be able to use MM for Ipod Sync, Do I need to install separate Ipod software that doesn't include Itunes.

I really hate Itunes and trying to avoid installing it on my new machine.

MM doesn't require iTunes or any other iPod related software to be installed.

doesn't the ipod require drivers of some sort? these don't even need to be installed?

iPod is a Mass storage device and so you don't need any drivers.
