Sound Interruptions.

Post by alex30 »

Hi,
I have been using MM for a while now to play files via a USB Dac and without any problems. I have just bought a Peachtree Decco 2 USB Dac and have started getting short [1 sec] sound cut outs.
I have gone into WavOutput configuration and set Buffer length to max , pre buffer to max and buffer before track change to about 5000ms. I have also set MM priority to high in Windows.
Although these measures have helped in reducing the number of drop offs , they have not eliminated them.
I have also tried a different USB port to feed the Dac with no effect.
I play mainly uncompressed wav files from an external hard drive with a spin rate of 7200 per sec.
I wonder if anyone can help as this is ruining my enjoyment of the music. I am always waiting for the next cut off.
Regards Alex.

not sure but i can tell you there are different machines here in my house and each has a different group of errors that show up in monkey. and each machine has differnent mb's and cpu's that i put in them. seems like there are major quality issues with some of the parts used on the mb's so this could be something caused by your new unit and not monkey.
you will have to figure out what works in ways of tweaking your new unit and let us know here so others can get help from you. :)

Did you select the correct Audio Device to be used in the output plug-in? Don't use the default or Microsoft sound mapper.

i found that the mediamonkey's direct sound plugin has some issues on my jukebox but not on the other computers? so i use the wav output. one.

but to be fair it might be issues caused by sound max drivers and mixer, that causes the issues with it because the issues did not show up on the computer when using a sound card. but since the sound card was out dated and not for xp there were other issues that showed up so its back to the hardware as my idea for the issues you might be having. :-?
