Now I am unable to burn audio CDs with MM 3.1.0.1256; I was able to do so (with the same version of MM) prior to reformatting my C-drive and reinstall all software.
I'm able to burn these discs with Nero and iTunes.
Here is the error message I get
Gary

try the info on this page http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... id=0&nav=0
particularly the dma mode stuff. it fixed all my burning and cd issues getting the controller into dma mode, dvd's now burn 4x faster than before and no more of those errors

RifRaf is right motherboard drivers update can do that sometimes.
Additionally you can go and check BIOS settings for all your drives and controller settings for UDMA auto/enable setting.
More on that here http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... ticleid=43
Additionally if Drive is SATA try to Delete/Uninstall it from Device Manager and Restart System which should also reload Default Driver.

thanks for the prompt replies. I don't see how to right click on the IDE channel in device manger. Please clarify.
Re: Unable to burn audio CDs with 3.1.0.1256
expand the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers section
then right click primary IDE Channel and Secondary IDE Channel, in the properties of these your should see the Advanced Settings tab that shows the DMA modes

Re: Unable to burn audio CDs with 3.1.0.1256
Well, finally Dell acknowledged my boot disk was kaput and sent a replacement. I installed the drive and XP SP2 (my last reinstall was prior to that) and now MM 3.1.0.1256 burned a CD like a champ.
Btw, I had checked and my DVD burner was set to DMA if possible all along. thanks.
