Improve "auto-tag from Amazon"

Improve "auto-tag from Amazon"
1) The ability to auto-tag more than one song at once. For example, if I select a song by the Beatles and a song by the Kinks, and select "auto-tag from Amazon", MM does its auto-tag function on the Beatles song, and ignores the Kinks song. It seems to me this would be as easy as adding a "next" button to go to the next song in the selected list.
2) It seems as if MM ignores the track name in its implementation of the auto-tag window. For example, if I attempt to auto-tag "Strawberry Fields Forever" by the Beatles, the auto-tag window gives me a dropdown list of many Beatles albums, and I have to go through them until I find the album that contains the song, at which point MM puts a checkmark next to the song name to indicate that the song is on the selected album. Why couldn't MM have selected that album for me, or at least sort the albums in the dropdown list so that the albums containing the track name are at the top?!?

The Auto-Tag from Amazon feature is designed for tagging whole albums at once, not a lot of single tracks from different albums/artists.

bring auto-tagging up to speed with WMP and others please
OK, then I guess my wishlist item is to enhance the auto-tag function to make it do what I'm guessing a lot of people wish it could do ... correct tag information for a track(s) based on the existing tag information:
You select a track, and MediaMonkey retrieves information from amazon.com based on the artist name and album name, as it does now. If MediaMonkey finds that the track is on the supplied album, it puts the album at the top of the dropdown list and checks off the track in the list below.
If MediaMonkey finds that the track is on a different album (or perhaps the track's original album tag was blank, a very common occurrence), it puts THAT album at the top of the dropdown list, optionally checking off the track in the list below.
This would give MediaMonkey a sorely missing feature (one which WMP has had for a while) ... assisting users in getting tag information for tracks with partial/incorrect existing tag information.

Amazon auto tag feature
Indeed the "auto tag from amazon" feature is "weak". When you don't find the correct album you need to select another amazon source (amazon.de, amazon.us, amazon.fr and so on) to look for the infos. Often one site has a different cover art and how to know what is the better? You need to look all of them to choose.
Other players/organizers have a different way to find infos from amazon. They seek all of the amazon sites (or at least all the amazon sites enabled by a check button), retrive infos from them, parse those infos and show a list of infos showing what fields have been found and the cover art size. By clicking in each line of the found infos it shows a larger preview of the found infos.
By click Autotag the user can then add the selected infos to the files.
Better is it was possible to select different infos from different sources (i.e. cover from amazon.de and infos from amazon.us or amazon.fr). This because amazon.de has almost every cover arts but infos (expecially comments and reviews) are in german. So i can select cover art from .de and infos from .us
Can the MM developer staff change the auto tagging feature in this way?
Of course they can.

Thank you for your reply. My issue isn't the need to select a different source (amazon.*) when the album isn't found. My issue is that when the track IS found on one or more albums, MM should make it easier to know which album(s) contains the track. Putting those albums at the top of the dropdown list would be one way of doing this.
An option to "auto-select" an album if the album contains the track would also be useful.
Really, I love MM and it bothers me that it doesn't have a very useful feature that WMP has - the "Find Album Info" function.

It generally shows the corresponding album, but in some cases when it can't find a exact match it will guess. But nothing wrong in making this better.

I've found that if the track's album tag is blank, it usually won't show the corresponding album.
For example, if I auto-tag a track with name "Strawberry Fields Forever" by artist "The Beatles", the search window shows the album "1962-1968", which does not include that track.
The dropdown list at the top DOES include (amongst every other Beatles album that amazon.com carries) the album "Magical Mystery Tour." MM has the information to know that that album (and possibly others) contains the track; why not sort the dropdown list and at least put the albums that contain the track at the top of the list?

Auto tag from amazon
MM should allow the user to choose what field to use for performing the search on amazon and to order the results in base to the relevance, possibly not with a pull down menu but with a selection list and clicking on each row of the selection list the user will be able to see a preview of the album selected.

A better search (including different fields) for Auto-Tag from Amazon is on the wishlist. It does currently require Artist and Album to get decent results.

Although updating multiple albums sounds good in practice it often isn't. Almost all lookup services will get the wrong results once in a while making manual verification essential to maintain the correct tags in the library.
Ideally MediaMonkey (and any application) would automatically lookup everything and tag it without errors. Unfortunately the reality is not like this.

Hmmm. I auto-tag multiple albums (and multiple artists) all the time with WMP, usually to add missing tag information, and have always been very pleased with the results. To each his/her own, I guess.
Anyway, at its simplest, I'm really just talking about a GUI-based convenience mechanism. If I'm going to auto-tag a track from one album/artist, and then another track from another album/artist, why not just allow multiple-select on the track list, select "auto-tag from Amazon," and then let the resulting auto-tag dialog walk you through your selected tracks? Seems like an intuitive operation.
Thanks.

Auto Tag
I love Media Monkey. I keep finding things that I might wish for that are already there. For this post I would like to be able to also use a CDDB database for previously ripped tags rather than just when ripping. Sometimes Amazon can be cumbersome and does not usually include out of print items. The CDDB databases appear to be more accurate as well. True there is no album art but when I rip a CD I have to go to Amazon, the web or actually scanning to get the art anyway.
The problem is that if an application wants to use CDDB they are disallowed to use any other competitor e.g. FreeDB, Amazon etc..
This is a rule that CDDB has.

Plus CDDB doesn't work anymore. You now have too use paid CDDB2 I think.
