[SOLVED] Output to speakers

Post by dogcatcher »

Windows 10. Dell PC.
Upon the upgrade MM5 will not talk to my speakers. It selected Direct Sound Output, which was a change from WaveOut in MM4. I have tried every permutation in Audio Output. I have re-installed the Realtek driver (several times), I've also tried making Windows the default.
In every case I can get the files to play via Vlan, and the one I transferred to the MS Media Player also plays I can play all media from the web.
Why is my pc discriminating against MM5?

Hi,
Does Sound test pass in driver and also I would suggest that you disable option to apps to take exclusive access.

Does seek bar shows playback?

Make sure you select the correct Audio Device in the Output Plugin you have enabled: https://www.mediamonkey.com/support/kno ... corrupted/

Thank you both for your kindness and help.
It was disabling the option for apps to take exclusive access that finally worked, but looking at the Knowledge Base introduced me to some things that I hadn't realised that MM could do.

Hi,
Looks like something on your system took exclusive access to your sound hardware and blocked access from other apps., so by disabling that you told Windows not to allow any app to take full control over sound hardware.

For others (if they find it useful) here is the process to disable Exclusive access to sound card in Windows 10:
1. Right click on Speaker in Tray -> Open Sound Settings
2. Click on device properties
3. Click on Related Settings -> Additional Device properties (On the top right)
4. Go to Advanced TAB
5. Disable all exclusive mode options
6. confirm change
