Lists by genre, artist, composer, etc

I really like MM5. I was able to make the switch in a few minutes. Missing one thing, though. MM4 had some boxes across the top that showed lists of genre, artist, and album (default in "music" setting). They are gone now and the data seems to be available by clicking on > in the task bar next to "music." But I don't get a list. If I click "genre," I get the grid view boxes with the genre titles shown below the box. This works fine. If I try to change the view to "list," I get a complete listing of my 40,000 track library. I would like to see a list of only the genres. Is this not possible, or am I doing something wrong, or is the genre list available by some other technique?
