MM 5 Gold - Playlist Order [#18355]

Post by michaelw »

I have both MM4 and MM5 installed on my PC. I have created a number of playlist on MM4 with specific ordering.

When I open these playlists in MM5 the order is not maintained, it reverts to some random order.

If I open the same playlist in MM4, MM5 and Notepad, MM4 and Notepad are in the same, correct, order and MM5 is random.

MM5 does not alter the saved file it just does not reflect it.

This happens with all save playlists.

Assistance would be welcome

How do you open the Playlist in MediaMonkey 5 and which Build (Help > About) are you using?

Thank you for your reply.

I am using 5.0.1.2433

I am opening the playlist by opening MM5 navigating to the disk/folder that is the top level folder for my MP3s. The playlists (*.m3u) are held in this folder along with subfolders for each artist. I then click on the .m3u file. I use exactly the same method in MM4.

How do you navigate to the folder? Are you using the Folders node, Add/Rescan Files, or Open URL or File?

Sorry not sure I understand the question.

I open MM5 to the screen shown here https://photos.app.goo.gl/hUKtk8XHGoQDRTTZ8
and then select the playlist

That would be Folders in the Media Tree. I can reproduce the problem, added as: https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=18355

So I assume that this will be fixed in a future release?

Do you have any likely timescale for this.

Also is there a work around in terms of accessing the playlist by a different method?

You can scan the Playlist into MediaMonkey instead: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHel ... ibrary/5.0

A the moment there is no time-line for a fix.

This is a question that interest me so I thought I'd chip in. When you access a playlist through folders what seems to be at Random but I'm sure it's loading in some logical order. What it is? Good question

However if you load from the File Menu in the top left what happens is you get the same thing,

BUT it plays in the right order.

Go to the playing screen highlight all the songs, right click and you should be able to see what I didImage

It'll bring up this screen below. It has added the playlist to the MM5 database.
Just name it and you're good to go.

I've rarely made my playlists in MM4. It's one of the thing that seems easier in WinAmp. My playlists are in a state of disarray. Nothing to do with MM. I made a decision to streamline my library into one folder on one hard drive so the links no longer work. It will take a long time to reload them but I think regardless of the fixes I'm going to add them to the MM5 database as I go along.
