How Do You Listen To Music?

Post by fuzzynavel »

So when I get home from work I fire up MM and then can't figure out what to listen to. I've got about 30k tracks in there, but I end up listening to pretty much the same stuff - probably only scratching the surface of my library.

How do you listen to music? Do you have some crazy playlists that spit out the tunes you haven't heard in a while? Genre-based playlists? Do you rely on add-ons like Last.fm Node to serve up music that you hadn't thought of?

Usually I'm in the mood for a specific genre when I get home, but then I have to build an advanced search like "play tracks from Genre X ranked over 4 stars that hasn't been played in the last six months". It takes a long time to build this search, however. There's got to be a better way...

Anyway, enough drunken posting for one night. Insight, opinions and snide comments welcome!

auto playlists set up to play songs that have not been played in x amout of days.
and to sort them by the last played date with oldest at the top. ( just for easier finding of the oldest songs)
and i have the shuffle button turned on, so it mixes them up.

i also use it all in automatic mode i don't do anything to that jukebox it just plays all the time i do add some new songs
to it now and then.
but that doesn't need mm to be stopped for that.
i have all the genere based, playlists set to play at different times. :D

and i send it through a portable fm transmitter so i just turn on the radio in any room in the house to here the songs. :)
