what is the proper way to start fresh on MMA ?

hi - i would like to start fresh on mma (1.40.0.0934) on my samsung s9 running android 10, where i was syncing to a 400GB microsd card.
i am guessing that i:
a) uninstall mma
b) reformat the sd card
c) reinstall mma
d) delete previous device profiles
e) connect my device using usb
f) configure device profile
?

hmm, i must be missing a step. i did:
a) uninstall mma
b) reformat the sd card
c) reinstall mma
but mma is still showing the previous content, even after running "check for new/changed media"

in the meantime, i manually deleted everything from mma. however some info still persists and i can't get rid of it.
if i view album artists, it shows these 6:

i tried to manually delete (noting the mention of 0 tracks):

i even deleted the internal storage from the mma library so it should only be looking at the sd card:
