Hi, does MediaMonkey play to Zone 2 speakers (AV amplifiers features) when available?
If not, this would be a great addon and feature request.
Thanks.

DJR.

It is perfectly possible to "Play to" Denon Zone 2/3 speakers, but this, as far as I'm aware, can only be set up in the Denon directly.

I don't believe that any Denon will expose multiple DMR destinations over the network for display/selection within a "Play to" media player on Windows 7/8.

So my Denon 3808, for example, is seen as a single device ("Network Audio") in Windows 8.1, and can be used as a "Play to" destination by Windows 8 media players such as MM. The audio stream is seen on the Denon's NET/USB input, and can be directed to zones 1, 2, or 3 (or combination thereof) by settings made on the Denon.

I just got a Denon E400; how would I go about doing a play to? (it is network capable)

I've accessed media from my file server running Plex via the Denon Media server option; but what about through MMW or MM8?

Since the Denon E400 won't be Microsoft Certified, the first thing you'll have to do is make a change to the Windows Registry to tell Windows that it is a valid "Play to" device for Metro-style Apps. See this Microsoft Wiki Article:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... a2bfe07956

You should be able to use the Play To feature in the Windows Media Player out of the box, i.e. without having to apply the above Registry fix. The fix is only necessary when you want to use Play To in Metro-style Apps, e.g. in MM8

I can't seem to find the "play to" option, but I see the "send to" option within MM (I know windows explorer has a "send to" option as well but that's why I wanted to clarify that. My Denon E400 is turned on too, so do I have to tell MM that I have a playable source somehow?

I think you are talking about MediaMonkey for Windows, which does have a "Send to" menu item. This has nothing to do with "Play to", which is present in MediaMonkey for Windows 8/RT (i.e. what this forum is dedicated to).

I'll ask in the MMW forum I thought this would be a quick answer and hopefully not derail this thread too much, yes I know its for MM8 I thought I'd actually use it but I think the MMW is better and decided MM8 wasn't necessary. You also said it should work out of the box to "play to" for MMW but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Thanks again :)

I said it would work out of the box with Windows Media Player - which has support for "Play to" built in.

OH! lol you're talking about WMP totally different software; howcome WMP will play to a non microsoft certified AVR but a Metro app won't?

Would there be a way to tell MMW to do it? (again we're veering off to MMW though since that's what I used but I happened to see this here and was going to use MM8 until I decided it was just better to not use it).

It's because Microsoft are attempting to provide a better user experience with Metro Apps. You can read the rationale in detail (from Gabe Frost, a Microsoft employee) in a post I did on the feature here: http://gcoupe.wordpress.com/2013/04/02/ ... ming-them/

Personally, I think they failed, because trying to get DLNA implementations from different manufacturers to interoperate without issue is like trying to herd cats.

As for getting a Play To feature into MMW, you should ask about it over in the MMW forum. If there's sufficient demand for the feature, perhaps someone will implement it?

Just noticed that someone has already asked for full DLNA support in MMW:

Perhaps you could add your voice to this post?

And on further browsing around, it would appear that the next version of MMW (version 4.1) is claimed to support Play To - at least if I understand this post correctly:

Nonsense - I've been using Play To with MM8 for months now.
