If possible I'd try a different client to access the MediaMonkey Server. That would rule out the client being the problem if it still fails.

I'd also check what Auto-Conversion rules have been set, any Auto-Conversion could be causing problems (Tools > Options > Media Sharing and Configure the MediaMonkey Server).

Hi Lowlander.

Thank you.

“Try a different client to access the MM Server” – I do not know what you mean.

How do I configure the MM?

Hi,
There is no configuration if you have two PCs and both run MM under Media Servers Tree node you will have MM listed and you can browse, play tracks from it.

Hi Peke

Thank you for the comment. But I do not understand.

From what I understand (and my understanding of UNPu and DLNA are minimal)…I can play music from my Workstation to another PC that is providing input for my stereo/audio.

I have no idea why when I play from my Workstation, to the other PC the music on the screen greys out and moves down.

There are so many options and 99% of these I do not know if the configuration is good. I have left most of them alone.

Any ideas??

I believe this is called casting or serving. The terms are very confusing.

???

Streaming/casting – not sure what to call it. – Starting Again

Post by foxint »

I thought I would start a fresh.

Hoping someone can help.

To decouple my music from my Workstation, I have found a spare PC (E8200) that is now sitting next to my audio system. I have connected this PC via Wi-Fi to the network as this should further decouple my music from the noisy PC environment.

If this is not correct – please tell me what I need to do.

On E8200 I have enabled Media Sharing and ticked the box in MM4 called “(Tools/Options/Player/DLNA Settings – Accept input/control of MM player via UPnP/DLNA).

Is there any other thing I need to do on MM4 to cast/stream/send the music to E8200?

I can see E820 in my network.

Open MM4 on my WorkStation….

Play music on my workstation – good.
Chose Player (right click on bottom task bar). I have the following options:

1. Internal
2. TV
3. MediaMonkey Player.

I choose 3 (MediaMonkey Player).

Immediately the list of track moves down and is becomes greyed out.

What have I done wrong?

It's really easy, even if it doesn't look like it:

1) Download and install the debug version of MediaMonkey: http://www.mediamonkey.com/sw/MediaMonkey_Debug.exe
2) Download and Run DBGView: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysi ... s/bb896647
3) Start MediaMonkey and do what causes the problem.
4) Once the problem occurs, save the log in DBGView and attach that log to the support ticket.

Hi Lowlander

Thank you.

How does one find and save the log from MM4debug?

Using DBGView: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysi ... s/bb896647 it captures all that MediaMonkey is doing.

Yes. You don't install it though, just run the downloaded exe file for DBGView.

Hi Lowlander

Thank you.
I did not know I had to download both.

I did... and it created a log file that was not allowed to be attached to my support request.

perhaps I could attach it here....but I could not see anyway

What next??? I am very confused
