I noticed that a country code of "XG" (East Germany) causes the script to crash.

Re: Discogs tagger for MM5

Roxie2401 wrote: Wed Apr 14, 2021 5:29 pm Hi - I'm new to MediaMonkey and have been using a program called CATraxx which can access both GraceNote CDDB and Discogs for obtaining additional information. If I remember, there is a licensing requirement for CDDB but only an account/authorization for Discogs.

I tested MM4 and found the Discogs Tagger and added that script to my V4.

Question: Will there be a "Discogs Tagger" script for MM5?

And the related question - with FreeDB maybe dead, any chance of getting Discogs integration into MM5 (Maybe in the Auto CD metadata lookup drop-down box for selecting the external database after the user has "Authorized" use in Discogs?) What I'm suggesting is that the menu item be grayed out until the user established a Discogs account.

Sorry if this was not the correct location for this post ---- still getting used to the Forum layout.
Hi,

welcome to MediaMonkey.
I can answer your question about the Discogs Tagger for MM5. Maybe sometimes there will be a DT-Script for MM5 but not in near future, sorry.

Can you give me more information about the crash? Which Discogs releasenumber triggered the crash? Which error message you get?

Thank you!

Auto Tag Crtl+L

Post by Roxie2401 »

First, I have to say that I am blown away with how much I really like MM 5!

I've been going back and forth between MM4 and MM5 and am curious about one thing.

In Version 4 a Crtl+L activated "Auto-Tag from Web" ---- and it allows me to use the "Discogs Auto Tagger" as an option once I have applied the script and authorized my Discogs (free) access.

In Version 5 a Crtl+L activates "Auto-Tag" and it appears that there is only the two existing meta databases (Musicbrainz or Freedb).

By using the same familiar key sequence (Crtl+L), will there be the ability to include other accesses, i.e., Discogs?

I understand removing all the "Amazon" locations since their format changes frequency...but Discogs has been very stable and would be very welcome in version 5.

Can you tell me if Discogs will be available in version 5 or should I stay with version 4?

If you need Discogs for tagging your files, you have to stay at MM4 at the moment.

Maybe the devs of MM will implement Discogs someday. Or me or someone else port the Discogs Tagger from MM4 to MM5.

Thanks -- I use Discogs a lot and am concerned about the long term with Amazon & Freedb going away --- that seems to leave Musicbrain as the current sole source. Maybe the Developers have something in mind since they are using the same "Crtl+L" shortcut for Tagging as they did in Version 4. It would be nice to integrate Discogs, maybe like I suggested on the other post --- include it in the drop-down selection where Musicbrain & FreeDB are currently but have it grayed out until the user Authorizes, then make it no longer grayed out but active in the list. I'm not a programmer but the technique of accessing the external databases seems like it would make the "feel" of Version 5 more natural coming from MM4.

Thanks for the quick reply - If you need someone to "test" a script, etc. for Discogs Tagging, let me know.

My Discogs Tagger is really Slow. It takes at least 10 seconds to open and sometimes it takes a couple of minutes to find results. The tagger and MM4 are all updated and I have fast internet.

Let me know what other information I can provide. Thanks!

Hi,

the time it takes for searching depends on the number of tracks, how many information (i.e. additional artists) exists and how many releases you decide to see in the upper list.
You can find it in MM here: Tools -> Options -> Discogs Tagger -> Limit amount of releases
Choosing less releases can speed up the Tagger.

Hi, I am not seeing the Option under Tools to limit the number of releases.

Have uninstalled, re-installed 5.79 then updated to 5.80 and still can't see this option.

Maybe you need to stretch the options window.

Thank you for the screenshots. The word beta is for tagging with metal-archives.com

The problem is the portable version. You need to install the normal version to see the options.

Hello, thank you for keeping the plugin running for so long.

I have a question if it is possible to add additional field checkbox for writing - url link
(not present in Mediamonkey but present on AIMP)

Please explain it a little more. Do you want a field for writing url's from Discogs releases.
We need another tag field for storing them. ISRC tag ? Or writing them additionally into the comment field ?

Hi!

Is it possible to create an option to...
1. ...search by Artist-Title by default when you open Tagger without having to delete Album field or going to Manual Search?
2. ...automatically replace "," to ";" in Composer(s) field (I found a couple of hundreds songs in my library with commas between composers names, and MM thinks there's just one, because of the way it was listed on Discogs)?
