Question on how to "combine" downloaded files

Post by gino_76ph »

i have downloaded a blu-ray movie off the internet legally but the movie was "divided" into two separate .avi files. how can i "combine" them when burning/uploading to my PMP/MP4 player so as the movie is continous and gapless when i watch it?

There is two ways:
1. Uncompress both files if it is 1080p it should take aprox 300GB, then use app like Adobe premiere or similar to join them and re-encode to desired format (unless you have really high end PC it will tak at least 12-14 hours and you will lose quality)
2. Use some burning App I think that Sony DVD Architect can do it and produce BD disk with it It will take at least 20h if you wanna get best quality possible and then RIP it back to format you want and that will take at least 3-6 hours.

Pick your choice.

ah ahhh be careful who you yell back at here peke is a programmer and a developer of mediamonkey. you can trust him if it is not worth you wasting your time on it then it is not worth wasting your time. peke will try to save you hassle if he See's your heading in to a dark New York City back alley at midnight, but if you want to go then he knows how to tell you to do it and try to survive.
8)

but first of all your going to need a blue ray dvdrom burning drive for your computer red ray burners don't get everything. and convert your blue ray in to red ray by losing stuff it can't fit on the DVD.
if you got a blue ray DVD burner drive they gave you a burning app that works with the drive and you will find a way in that app to merge the two files together and burn your blue ray DVD .
but those times peke gave you. well those are Conservative estiments. and might only be that if you have a super computer you can hook in to at a college computer lab. and use it to do the converting.
its a long time doing some things like that if you messed with red ray DVDs you know they take that long or longer but blue ray has more info to move and merge or convert and burn. if your doing all that at once.
the Vison of them old windows 3.1 wait screens comes to mind and i would say. go get a cup of coffee made with fresh beans picked in Brazil that morning. by the time you get back from that country to the england in a weeks time it might be finished.

S,mall correction to RC you do not need BD burner at all you can create BD Image on HDD (Double Layer one takes up to 50GB) problem is HDD space

If you wanna test performance see
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window ... wcase.aspx
http://www.demo-world.eu/trailers/high- ... ailers.php
http://www.highdefforum.com/high-defini ... -list.html

but you will need to be uncompressed if you wanna join them correctly and with as little quality loss as possible, also you need to do at least 2-4 Pass encoding.

I prefer uncompressed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DV for DVD video editing
