If he was a true friend you'd have a collection the same size wouldn't you. :-?

Mine's 7432 and counting! Between me and my girlfriend we buy at least a CD a week and we always both rip it. Plus there's downloaded music, and music sneakyly recorded at gigs. I just can't stop my database from growing - MM is a God-send! :)

Mine's currently 20Gb, held on an (80Gb) external harddrive, so as not to clutter my laptop (which unfortunately only has a measely 30Gb harddrive). This has the added advantage of being able to take it into work and being able to play all my music through my computer (and headphones) at work as well as having it all at home to play through my stereo.

that is a lot of songs.

1. but did you just rip them from cdroms?

2. or are you adding the songs in to your database as wave files.

3. then taking them in to a wave editor and adjusting each one for corret sound.

4. then converting them to your chosen storage format.

if you are doing numbers 2,3, and 4 above then you have been one very Very VERRRRYYYYYY BUSY PERSON. :o

Why do you have so many wave files?

Who said anything about wav?? All of my files are mp3s, at various bitrates.. mostly 160.
I don't rip almost anything unless urgently needed. My files come from "various" sources and only a small fraction of them was ripped by me
Thats about it.
And yes, i am a very busy person trying to keep my database organized, even if i dont do steps 2,3 & 4  8)

TheRocket is right! If I had the space I would of course copy all his stuff.

(Me and my friend do of course have exactly the same CD collection...But why should I rip mine if I can get them from him.. ...

My music collection has almost doubled in the past few days because I've been copying music from my mate at work's computer onto my external harddrive. Once it's all my sorting, tagged properly and reorganised I shall be back with an amazing total that will astound you all!
