Organise Files

Is it possible to have MM automatically rename files when you change their tags, the way iTunes does?

I'd like to use Organise Songs to rename files like this:
<Artist>-<TruncAlbum>-<Track>-<Title>
where <TruncAlbum> is something like
Take the first letter of each word in the album name.
If the album has only one word, use the first three letters.

Is there any way of doing something like <TruncAlbum>? It doesn't have to be exact.

I think you just do <Album:1> :)

For as far as I know, No. You have to manually initiate the organising (file renaming & relocation).

I didn't see this in the wishlist either.

One minor point to this is (I think) when file name is more correct than the tags, the tags would overwrite the file name and the correctness would be lost (automaticly, without chance to see the changes before they are applied).
Anyway, good suggestion.

Cheers

Let's say you have an album called
"Mother Earth"
what I'd want it to do is create an album code, "ME" rather than, say "M" - would this work?

Hmm, also, would it be possible to three letters?
"What's The Story (Morning Glory)" would become "WTS" rather than "WTSMG"

If such a feature were enabled, it would make sense to have a global setting: ON or OFF, so people who had any doubts about their files could keep it.
Also, I don't think it would be hard to create a new database file: "OldName", so the last name the file had is kept - you could look at it and see if the file renaming has worked.

Finally, while iTunes has the auto-renaming feature, one reason I'm looking at MM is because it is much more flexible in its file management. (e.g.I can have it rename <artist>-<title> rather than just <track>-<title>.) I have MM set up to scan the root folders (each of which having many subfolders):
* My Music
* My Videos
* My Sound Effects
If a file auto-renaming feature is implemented, it would be good if you could enable file renaming on a root folder by root folder basis (just the folders you've told MM to scan, not for all their subfolders). I'd enable it for My Music and Videos, but not for Sound Effects.
