Re: While paused, changing songs unpauses the player

Ok, thanks. I guess that's what I'll have to do then. I often pause, go back to see what just played or what's coming up, then return to the current song and resume play. I guess I'll just have to train myself to read the playlist instead...

While paused, changing songs unpauses the player

This is only a minor issue, but still very annoying. With the player paused, going to the next song or the prior song causes the player to start playing (i.e., it unpauses). Needless to say, if I wanted it to be playing it wouldn't be paused, but that shouldn't mean I can't go forwards or backwards....

Lowlander wrote:What node is selected where you see this?
My Music node which has the criteria "Genre not equal" then a short list of genres like Classical and Books, etc.

BTW - It likes to stop after about 52,000 songs or so.

Not all songs shown when MM starts

Just curious. Whenever I start MM, it takes a couple of seconds to load the song information in (I can see it increment), but it usually ends up showing fewer songs than it should so I always have to hit F5 and refresh it (then all the songs show up). I use the column views if that helps. Is this a ...

Re: How does a SSD drive behave with mm.db

Lowlander is spot on about SSD drives. But, just as an aside, most defraggers can usually defragment a single file so, if it bugs you, you could defrag just the mm.db file. I use Power Defragmentor GUI, a free program that you can download from HERE if you want. It runs the actual defragging in a DO...

Re: DLNA

Now that Erlend has fixed his MediaMonkeyRemoteServer to play nicely with a portable MM installation, sending the music to something other than my PC's speakers is next up on the list for me. I used to use an Airport Express with iTunes so if anyone can recommend a similar DLNA equivalent that would...

Re: Genre/Subgenre opinions desired

Yeah, and I was a bit disappointed that the Grouping field doesn't have either a dropdown or auto-complete capabilities as well... I use that field a LOT. I just finished manually fixing about 100 files where MM couldn't change the comment field to match the library. I decided to use one of the cust...

Genre/Subgenre opinions desired

Found this from 2008 while doing a search on a question I was going to ask: I know for me, if there was a way to assign a main genre and then be able to have a shortcut to append a sub genre delineated by a semicolon while listening to the track, that would be AMAZING! Even better if that could have...

Re: Question about my "Portable" installation

I'm still wondering about this one a bit. I've been working with Erlend trying to get the MediaMonkey Remote Server to work with my phone and tablet and, one of the issues that keeps coming up, is that MMRS doesn't recognize that MM is running. I'm curious to know if others have used his remote serv...

Re: Add an "Update File Location Only" option to Auto-Organi

After reading that "How to" I still think having this option would be a FAR better choice... How many average users are going to either be willing or able (without messing something up) to do that manual approach? With the proposed option above MM doesn't have to match filesize and timestamp, it jus...

Add an "Update File Location Only" option to Auto-Organize

I ran into this today when I (finally) nuked iTunes and moved all of the MediaMonkey directories over to the drive where they are supposed to be, however anyone who has a portable installation on an external drive could run into this situation. Once everything was copied over, everything worked fine...

Re: Considering a switch from iTunes to MM

Well, I ended up scanning the new location which added all of the files into MM a second time. Fortunately, it was smart enough not to copy the actual files twice! I then had to sort on location and delete the files from the old location from the library. This seems like a very long way around for s...

Re: Considering a switch from iTunes to MM

2) Use Auto-Organize or Auto-Organize Files with the new mask pointing to the new drive. Well, I've got all the files copied over to the new drive and changed the mask, but I can't figure out how to make MM ONLY change the path designation. It puts up an error (I assume for every file) that says it...

Question about my "Portable" installation

Ok, it's done. I backed things up just in case, but iTunes has been officially uninstalled (along with all those other Apple apps that seem to come with it - plus the added disk cleanup for all the garbage left behind). Then the harddrive with all the iTunes music files was formatted and I'm ready t...

Re: Keep track of what you were doing & Playlist from select

1) You can use a different tab so selection isn't lost. 2) Right click, Send To > Playlist So THAT'S what those tabs are for! I swear, even though I've "RTFM" more than once now I'm STILL missing things... As for #2, I figured there had to be a way that I was overlooking. I'm guessing it wou...
