Re: Disaster - All Playlists Wiped - Please Help

To avoid this kind of unfortunate accident, though, I wonder if a "recommended settings to think about for new users and/or to avoid problems" thread would be a useful thing?

Re: Disaster - All Playlists Wiped - Please Help

I'm using Microsoft's SyncToy tool to backup files. Seems to work well.

Re: Really frustrated with upgrade failure

File > Locate Moved/Missing Files

Browse to the folder where your files are located, and set it going. If you have a lot of files, this may not be quick, but ultimately it will give you a list of files with new locations and you can then tell MM to update them.

Re: network inaccessible... except it's not!

Just as an update, and hopefully to be helpful to future enquirers... So, I turned off my antivirus software, but I was still getting external exceptions and other errors. So I have given up trying to run MM off my NAS. Instead I've changed to local installations of MM, with my music library still h...

Re: Getting confused on this !

Thanks all for the input - it's all appreciated. A prime example, is yesterday on my external hard drive via my laptop, I was rearranging two of the playlists, all good so far, then, today, on the extrenal hard drive, via the desktop, the playlists shows no changes?!?!? Can you clarify any of the p...

Re: network inaccessible... except it's not!

Ah, so if MM wouldn't normally generate an error (so much for my assumption), then it does begin to look like there's something about my set up that makes the missing file look like the NAS is disconnected... :-? Can't think of anything else to do, so I'll just have to live with a slightly uneasy fe...

Re: network inaccessible... except it's not!

I'm not aware that 4.0.6 has changes in this area (it might though). So it may be something particular with your NAS. I wouldn't be surprised. I guess it's not a huge problem, I can just not try and play tracks that don't exist  If MM is seeing a missing file as a disconnected network, I'm thi...

Re: network inaccessible... except it's not!

Just to clarify, if I just highlight the track and remove/delete it, that works. What generates the warning is clicking as though to try and play the missing track. Clearly, that's not going to work. I'm going to be getting an error message. But not about a disconnected network. Reproduced again jus...

Re: network inaccessible... except it's not!

I'm very good, I use the UNC path names. So it's not that. I just tried "ignore" to the warning. The file was greyed out, and I was able to then delete the file. So the path isn't the problem. And I'd be expecting a message of some kind to the attempted action, given the file isn't there. Just not *...

network inaccessible... except it's not!

Hi, I've been experimenting with MM (Gold) on my network. I've had MM installed portably on a NAS (Buffalo Linkstation) for a few weeks now. MM, music files and MM database are all on the NAS. I have a Windows Vista laptop which connects to the network wirelessly, and a Windows XP PC which connects ...
