That worked!
Optimisation completed, and I renamed both artist and album artist fields back to "Fugazi", and now it all seems fine again.
Thanks Lowlander!

Re: Artist name repeating
I tried renaming both fields for all files, to Fugazi. and back to Fugazi (no full stop) Now what seems to have happened is that I end up with separate entries for each album, plus all the separate entries for each track! When I name both fields back to Fugazi. I just have one entry. Just seems to t...

Re: Artist name repeating
... and I just counted. There are 87 individual "Fugazi"s in the artist list, appearing after the entry where all the albums appear. There are 87 tracks across all the albums in total. So every track is somehow getting its own artist entry!

Re: Artist name repeating
Both set to the same thing. Both Fugazi.
I just tried renaming the artist "Fugasi" for each album, and the duplicates disappear to reappear under a single entry for "Fugasi" as you'd expect.
But when I rename them back to "Fugazi", back come all the duplicate entries!

Artist name repeating
Any idea about why this is happening? Mediamonkey Gold, version 4.0.7.1511. I have one artist name, and one artist name only, which gets repeated many times in the library listing. I have several albums by this artist (happens to be Fugazi). I have the usual entry for Fugazi, which I can click on to...

Re: Is use of NAS bullet proof?
I store all my music on a NAS and it works really well.
The problems I had were when my mm.db file was also stored on the NAS. It is now stored locally and I sync it between machines instead. So I would recommend keeping your db file off the NAS.

Re: Why do searches like this fail?
This is an interesting one. I'm a librarian. In general terms, it's always much more common that people need to find alternate endings for words than alternative beginnings. And although most databases will let you use truncation/stemming to find suffixes, not all databases will let you search for p...

Re: Maintain library with no user intervention
Question 1: Just delete albums within MM. If you delete them outside MM, MM won't know you've deleted them unless you tell it that you have (it will of course notice that the file isn't where it should be when it tries to play the track or you rescan the drive),because it doesn't monitor every file ...

Re: Upgrading changes skin?
It happened to me. Upgrading to newest version from previous version. I had the Mellon skin, but this reverted to Vitreous when I upgraded. However, all previously installed skins, extensions and scripts were still there. And most (but not all - "pop up display" was ticked once more for example) set...

Re: Why does MM4 require administrator access to run?
I'm using Windows 7 (64 bit), and MM 4.06.1501. I am also always prompted ""Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to your computer?" It does this whether or not I have "reassociate file type" selected under OS integration. Setting MM to run with admin privileges does not remove ...

Re: Newbie questions: Playlists, "music" tab
Here's what happens for me. Let's say I am browsing my entire Artist and Album Artist list, and I select a song, then go off and look at playlists or something else. If I click on "Go to Previous View", I go back to the top of the Artist and Album Artist list. But if I instead use the list of artist...

Re: Ripped albums not showing in Library
Have you double checked that MM has not been set to ignore those files for any reason - wrong filetype or size or something?
You probably have, just trying to think of ideas!

Re: Organizing FLAC and MP3 with MM4
If you want different formats of the same songs, but want them kept kind of separate, then you could create separate MP3 and FLAC libraries within the same MM installation.
Tools > options > Library > Media Tree > New
Then set criteria for filetypes.

Re: Media Monkey Rated #1 Player of the Year 2012
It does say that they tested v 3.2. It doesn't say why they tested an old version, though.
EDIT: They also tested an old version of ZenPoint Music Center. No doubt the other software is also older versions.

Re: Adding to library over network is crazy slow
How are you repopulating your library? Presumably you are adding/rescanning? When you say your previous library was corrupted, what do you mean? And when you attribute the corruption to the upgrade, how did you decide it was MM that did it? Just trying to get a clearer picture of what's going on...
