Re: Composer entry from track list

Nohitter, I respect you, too, as a long-time presence on the forum. You've helped a lot of people, myself included. I don't want to be argumentative. I am trying to point out some important problems, including some things that used to work and now don't. I've admitted I have a frustration level with...

Re: Composer entry from track list

I'm going to reply as briefly as I can. First, nothing against you Lowlander. You are always here on the forums helping people out. My criticisms are strictly against some of the choices the developers made. Maybe you should spend a little more time with MM4. Although some things changed, some are u...

Re: Composer entry from track list

I see my post was moved from the "bugs" section of the forum to the "wishlist" section. Yes, I can see that if the editing process is working as designed, my request can be seen as a wishlist item, even though I just want it to work as it did before. I want to say, however, that it is darned annoyin...

Re: Restricting searches

I do not have "Search Whole Words Only" selected. What I meant by "but, really?" was, do users really have to use this kind of workaround to compensate for something like title:"arm" not working as it used to (and should still)? Sometimes I want the partial word search. If I want songs with just the...

Composer entry from track list

This post has to do with entering data into the Composer field from the "track list" display only (I'm not sure what the correct name for this area is), NOT from the Properties window. In MM3 (which I was using until a month ago), Composer entry would proceed as follows: 1. "Slow" double-click Compo...

Re: Restricting searches

Add on to my earlier post: I realized another workaround would be to put this in the search box: "arm" AND title:arm (to give me songs containing the word "arm")

...but, really???

Restricting searches

This answer may be in the forum somewhere, but I can't find it. A search on "search" returns a lot of threads. I'm a recent convert from MM3 to MM4. In MM3, if I did a search on title:"arm" , the results would return all songs with "arm" in the title, but not songs with "arms", "army", "Armenia", et...

Re: Custom Report 3.1 - Updated 25/10/2013

Following up my post from Monday, I uninstalled Custom Report 3.1 and installed the version I had been using, Custom Report 2.9. Version 2.9 treats the SongLengthString properly, showing the Carpenters' "Top of the World" as "2:58", instead of "12:02:58 AM" as 3.1 shows for me. The report exports to...

Re: Custom Report 3.1 - Updated 25/10/2013

I'm in the process of moving to a new PC. I downloaded and installed the current version of MM. (I had been using version 3.2.5 on the old PC). I downloaded and installed Custom Report 3.1. (I had been using version 2.9.) I attempted to recreate the one & only report I run on a regular basis. It use...

Re: Info about Glided - Discussion

I also was surprised to find that Glided disappeared when I installed 4.1.1 on a new PC. Note to Ventis: It is not acceptable to remove this long-time default skin. It shows a remarkable disregard for your users. Please put it back. If there is a problem with the skin, fix it. In the meantime, I'd r...

Re: How to find tag mismatch between MM DB and actual file?

Actually, I discovered the difference on this particular file. The old file has a comment. The new one doesn't (which I do remember removing). But the results from the Unsynchronized File scan don't indicate a difference in the Comments field. If I pick another track like the other one, MM shows no ...

Re: How to find tag mismatch between MM DB and actual file?

Thanks for that, nohitter. Another feature I wasn't aware of. So now, I'm scanning for unsynchronized tags, and it is coming up with a list of about 900 so far. Some of the tracks it's coming up with, I can't see a difference between what MM has and what is in the file itself. I'm using a stand-alon...

How to find tag mismatch between MM DB and actual file?

I had a hard time describing this problem/question in the title. I had an album's worth of mp3 files that were imported into MM a long time ago and tagged as I wanted them. By accident, I recently re-ripped that same CD, overwriting some of the files and not overwriting others because the generated ...

Corrupt db, Vacuum error

I've been reading through the forum about this problem and my head is starting to hurt. I'm hoping someone can help me sort through all the confusing information. For quite awhile now, when I try to do "Maintain Library/Optimize database (Complete)" option I get an error message as follows: "There w...

Re: Help with Search by Genre

I didn't realize the wiki Search page was for MM4 only. Thanks for that info.

I do have Gold Lifetime, so I can use your suggestion which works pretty well for what I need. I'd forgotten about all the things Auto-Playlists can do. Thanks very much for the help.
