Re: Linking another database to MM
I like what Barry suggested he sounds like he has plenty of experience. I was going to suggest something along those lines. I don't have a clue as to what a database trigger would do that a SQL script could't do for this application. I have 15+ yrs of writing triggers. You put as little code in them...

Re: Removing old podcast subscriptions
If your podcast might be DRMed it is essential to back up copies of the DRM licenses in a very safe place. I always feel sorry for the fools that back up their music but not their DRM licenses before getting rid of their old computer. Later they find they can't play all their music. They may or may ...

Re: Recording Title Length
What you want is a tag editor that edits file names. Most do that. One good one that does is mp3tag. As you can guess most tag editors only edit mp3 files. If you have some other format you might be out of luck. Just so you know how you before you try to rename the file is from meta data and text yo...

Re: Gold vs free codec question
I have purchased several gold licenses from 1.x on but there is nothing in gold that I want. I mostly bought them to support MM. I have even uninstalled gold 3.x? because of the burn speed. By 3.x you could not buy a slow burning CD. I always burn at minimum speed and buy the slowest burning media I...

Re: Auto playlist BPM / Sequential Playlisting / MusicNonSto
The problem is with the creation of the second play list. I am certain what you want MM to do is beyond what the MM programmers have envisioned. When you add extreme complexity to code it becomes unreliable. They should not honor your request if you added this to to the wish list. Back to the realit...

Re: Some metadata isn't shown + other problems/questions
You seem to feel most everyone on this forum is some kind of guru who has nothing better to do with their life is to figure out how to solve rare obscure problems. Most members are way less expert than you. You can tell a great deal from your choice of tools and what I think you are trying to do. Yo...

Re: Need questions answered to see if MM will be right for m
Some things you might not know that probably interest you. 1) MM has a location view. You can store you music physically in as convoluted manner as you can and with the location tree you can browse as the music is physically organized. 2) MM handles large collections better than any other software I...

Re: Double folders on media tree - can I delete one?
What I do is mostly use the location tree for most of my music. In classical sometimes I organize by composer but for other music the performer is more important.

Scripts that alter tag info
I am an out of work programmer. At my last job I did some vb/.net work. I figured I would play around with MM scripts to exercise my vb skills. I figured I would write some tag manipulation scripts. I have used many different audio managers and normalizers. Each add tags for normalization ect. I thi...

Re: Sorting Tracks
One of the things I love about MM is you can view by location. Then you can place your music in folders the way you would want to browse them. Under music you would have main then several oddity folders you would only want to pay at special times. The rest of your genres you would have inside main. ...

Re: Artist list
How would you do that if it was collapsed, you wouldn't see any would you? What you probably would want is to be able to tag a node so it would not collapse. You would tag them in the expanded view then the flagged ones would stay visible after the view was collapsed. That sounds like a wishlist ite...

Re: How can I exclude tracks from MM library?
Delete them from within MM. You can opt to just delete them from the database. However, if you rescan they will come back. To avoid that you would need to put then in a place you will not scan. Put them on a different drive or keep all your music to be used on MM in a folder and store the bonus trac...

Re: Can only import 178 songs
It shouldn't hang on any file. It ought to blur the file names they are added so fast. Something is REAL wrong. It shouldn't take more than a few hrs (2-3) to do your library. Is your library on a USB external drive?
