I have the same issue on my Galaxy Note 10.1. The external storage disappeared from sync options and from library folders. Nonetheless it can play music from the external storage location just fine (where it was synced to previously).

cool idea, thank you. I tried it and it works for limiting the playlist, and with the sort criteria I can choose which parts of the original playlist are taken.
There is I suppose no way it can tell me that a limit has been reached?
