In that case, we shouldn't expect a new version of MM8 until Windows 9 is formally released by Microsoft?
So not until Spring 2015 at least...

Yes, 10 months now and counting since we were told that a major update was imminent... I'm beginning to think "he's dead, Jim"...

How's the ironing getting along? It's been almost 8 months since the update was to be available "soon".

As there is still no sign of the update, I take it that something unexpected has happened?

Re: Streaming/Remote-Control UPNP/DLNA Devices

The Play To functionality is in Windows 8.1 itself. MM8 can use it without the need to have specific UI elements built for it. The Play To functionality can be accessed via the Windows 8.1 Charms. With MM8 open, and playing a track, open the Charms bar and select the Devices icon. You will then see ...

Does the MM8 player even have support for skins? I've not seen any evidence for it.

Nonsense - I've been using Play To with MM8 for months now.

Re: Playing to (Denon) Zone 2 speakers

And on further browsing around, it would appear that the next version of MMW (version 4.1) is claimed to support Play To - at least if I understand this post correctly:

Re: Playing to (Denon) Zone 2 speakers

Just noticed that someone has already asked for full DLNA support in MMW:

Perhaps you could add your voice to this post?

Re: Playing to (Denon) Zone 2 speakers

howcome WMP will play to a non microsoft certified AVR but a Metro app won't? It's because Microsoft are attempting to provide a better user experience with Metro Apps. You can read the rationale in detail (from Gabe Frost, a Microsoft employee) in a post I did on the feature here: http://gcoupe.wo...

I said it would work out of the box with Windows Media Player - which has support for "Play to" built in.

Re: Playing to (Denon) Zone 2 speakers

I can't seem to find the "play to" option, but I see the "send to" option within MM (I know windows explorer has a "send to" option as well but that's why I wanted to clarify that. My Denon E400 is turned on too, so do I have to tell MM that I have a playable source so...

Re: Playing to (Denon) Zone 2 speakers

Since the Denon E400 won't be Microsoft Certified, the first thing you'll have to do is make a change to the Windows Registry to tell Windows that it is a valid "Play to" device for Metro-style Apps. See this Microsoft Wiki Article: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki/windows8_...

Re: Playing to (Denon) Zone 2 speakers

It is perfectly possible to "Play to" Denon Zone 2/3 speakers, but this, as far as I'm aware, can only be set up in the Denon directly. I don't believe that any Denon will expose multiple DMR destinations over the network for display/selection within a "Play to" media player on W...

Re: Surface RT MM missing "Play To" functionality?

Eh? Then why am I able to use "Play to" in my version of MM for Metro (version 1.0.4.62)?

Admittedly, I am using it on Windows 8.1, rather than Windows RT, but you seem to imply that MM for Metro can't do this at all.
